Your dealer isn't putting motorcraft oil in for oil changes unless you bring it in.
when my '02 E150 was new, I found that some ford dealers charged less for the oil change with the mandatory semi-synthetic than it cost me to get five quarts of semi-synthetic. Early on, it was hard to find, and the warranty wasn't clear on whether full synthetic would meet it.

Fully agree! That's where I am in life ?
Hey, I'm early retired, and noone's going to switch me back to work!

Anyone have a line on one of those oil funnels that fit in place of the fill cap that fits a 24 5.0?

I've been using Grease Monkey for oil changes every 5k miles; full synth oil change runs around $120. This cost, and the oil threads I've seen here, made me wonder how many truck owners change their own oil.

Do you change your own oil?
Never have I allowed someone else to change the oil in ANY vehicle I've owned. Once, my mother-in-law went to a place where oil changes are all they do...they dumped the oil into her tranny fill. At least they fessed up to it and agreed to pull her tranny pan and completely flush the tranny. Fortunately, we never had any issues as a result, but still, when you have a single job, how do you make such a bone-headed error. And I can't recall the number of times I've heard others mention getting home to a bad leak/an over-torqued drain plug/drain plug not tightened properly leading to engine damage (refused to be covered by the company that did the work)/etc. Just don't trust anyone else to do something I am perfectly capable of doing. I would definitely recommend the Fumoto valve if you will do this yourself.

I change my own oil also. In the past I was more 50/50 at home or take it to a shop. But a huge draw for me to do it at home is the time savings and being able to change my oil when it is convenient for me. No calling ahead of time to schedule a service, or sitting in a waiting room wondering when the truck will be done, or hoping to get a ride to work on the shuttle. I can change my own oil at a leisurely pace in less than an hour, while I have coffee in the morning, or with a beer in the evening. I'm sure some shops can have it done in less than an hour, but you have to wonder about how reliable they are, and I'm sure they don't offer your drink of choice.

That said, saving some cash is nice too, and there is a definite therapeutic value to doing your own work.

Anyone notice on their first oil change on a new truck that the oil had a green tint to it?

I’ve always changed my own except the free deal with the Toyota Tacoma
I’m using Ford points on my F-150
Had it changed 2 weeks ago
I looked at the plastic filter housing on my 2.7 when I picked it up and didn’t see any wrench marks
I’m wondering did they change the filter?
They use they’re lowest paid workers for this
Can’t trust them
I never let them rotate tires because the wheels will always have impact rash from hitting them trying to find the nut
Every time
Why risk it?
Last time they charged $6.00 to top off washer fluid that wasn’t a pint low?
I was looking in the truck for rest of the gallon
Everyone wants to screw you!!

we take our f150 shop trucks to the dealer for oil changes... we have had at least 4 times over the past years the drain bolt left loose and a big puddle under the truck.. we would call the dealer and tell them and all they would say is bring it back in and will fix it

A transmission fluid type funnel will cost you < $10 almost anywhere.

I hate to admit this publicly but I let Ford do about every other oil change. It's not that I mind changing oil, in fact like others in this thread i usually find it relaxing. What I dont enjoy doing is rotating tires.

Every other oil change or so I will take the truck to Ford let them do the works - change the oil and rotate the tires. It's worth the $50 to not have to deal /w doing the tire rotation /w a floor jack in my garage.
