How is this? Look Mom, no hands. It stays put and I can use two hands to manage the five-quart jug of oil. Before my first oil change in this truck, I looked for a funnel that would work because I knew that I would never be able to hit the hole in the valve cover with a five-quart jug. With this funnel, I have never spilled a drop. Something is wrong with you if you can't hit a hole that size.

Thank you for posting the pic and funnel recommendation.

I did an oil change yesterday with the "twist lock into the oil fill tube funnel" I bought on Amazon and it didn't work very well. The funnel is too small and when you try to pour the oil from a 5 liter container it starts to come out before you can easily get it over the funnel. Even quarts are a challenge.

Today I bought the Tractor Supply huge red funnel and it fits great, goes into the fill tube and is stable by resting on the wiring harnesses and other parts on that side of the engine. The next change will be so much easier.

Thanks again.

I’m glad that I could help. It’s the small things that can really make a difference.

It costs me less than $80 for an oil change with synthetic oil and a new filter. I could probably find a place to charge me more but the closest garage at $80 is fine.

If I could not afford to spend $80 to $160 each year then I would not have bought the truck and paid $59,000 for it.

Hmm I just changed my oil and filter, cabin filter, air filter and was able to enter all of that data myself. Im not arguing with you, just trying to figure out if I am missing something.

If I lived in a place that I could I would. Must admit it’s easy but it’s nice having it done. In the past I have done my own. Trouble I came across was getting rid of the oil. Auto stores seemed to be full all the time.

Around here, lots of shops have waste oil heaters and will take whatever they can get for oil because what they generate on their own isn't necessarily enough to heat all winter. I give mine to a friend that runs an inspection station and small repair shop.

One of my first jobs in high school was working in a service station in 1965. I have changed a lot of oil since then. I continue to do it in my own cars mostly because it gives me a chance to look under the hood and below the engine to see what is going on.
I have done it enough that it takes me about thirty minutes from start to finish to complete the entire process. That includes getting out the tools, ramps, mats and putting everything away when I’m done. If I have it done anywhere else I would probably have to add several hours to the process. I would still have to worry if the job was done correctly.
One of the first things that I do when I get a new vehicle is put an order together for Rockauto for parts that I know that I will need.
I stock the oil, oil filters, air filters, cabin filters, fuel filter, and wiper blades in my garage and change them when they are needed. It takes less time than it takes me to drive to the dealer.

As I have said before,I have 2 friends that own an auto repair shop. I make an early morning appointment, usually around 7:30 am and for $25 I can use a lift, tools, drain pan, and i can dispose of the used oil and filter there. Sometimes they help and sometime they don't, but they always help me spot and raise the truck. It sure beats crawling under the truck in the winter.

Two things:
1) Either I’m crazy or the ability to add your own service records to FordPass has been nuked.
Ford F-150 Anyone change their own oil? 1756593466692-mn

“Services performed at participating Ford dealers”… well that sucks.

2) I don’t think this thread was meant to be a thread where everybody can brag about how long they’ve been changing oil for. If you’re not sharing something related to the original question (how do DIY oil changes affect your warranty coverage) then that’s
not adding anything of value.
I just read through 8 pages of OT noise to hopefully find some kind of answer to the original question, to no avail. Great.

1) you're crazy :) (sorry i had to)
Are you on android and what version?
In the mean time you can see is there is an update to fordpass. If no update you can try resetting the app and see if it comes back.
I have 5.26.0 on android and adding service records is still there.

I’m running 5.26.0 on iPhone and seeing my screenshot above..
Well you are the first I have seen report it not working on this fourm. Other than removing the truck and re-adding it back im am not much help. From a little searching it seems ever since they added service records back to ios its been buggy.

Try it on a real computer, not mobile.

And maybe try not being such a grouch and chilling out a bit? It's better for your health and spiritual well-being. 😉

Retired and not looking. I am driving the wife crazy.
Well, I will reanswer the original question without the unnecessary details. I should have known better. After all I am a guy. However, I originally gave a "female" answer. Below is my revised answer. Note that after the yes there is still additional detail making sure my answer conforms to the question as originally framed.

"Yes" (all that is needed). "I change my own oil" gives additional detail which is unnecessary. I guess that must be some estrogen left over from the hen I had for dinner (more additional detail that is unnecessary).
