Adding Forward Sensing System - 2021 King Ranch w/601A

Hey man, same thing here, I installed the 6 sensors on my 21 302A this morning, still can't get it come on in front of an object.i used the changes from the king ranch forum. Trying to drive around for a bit to see if it will kick in.

I did all the changes per the original post and then had to go back into forscan easy mode and do this:

“Also, my last setting that got it working was a plain English change in the ipma. Something along the lines of either parking aid >front and rear or front park aid > enabled”

Also, make sure to reset the ipma (wrench icon) after the changes to force it to start using them.

you have FDRS? If so, in there you can pull up the sensor output and one of the outputs is the presense of these sensors. See if they toggle in/out. It will also show distance if they are working. I bet you can pull this value up with other programs too but have not tried.

Update: i was out and about for about an hour, as soon as I pull up to the car in front of my house,the camera came on, I tried it again and it works. Thanks to everyone that tried to help.

Is there a way to adjust the distance of when the camera comes on? I found I have to be really close to the car infront of me for the camera and sensor to come on.

I responded to your PM but figured I would respond here as well. To date, i have not calibrated the front sensors to alert further out. I would assume it’ll have to be done at the dealer. I do know that when it first alerts, it does seem like you’re real close until you get out and check. I am typically 2-3 feet away when it first starts to alert. From the cab, it feels like I am about to hit the object though. My wife’s 22 expedition also seems to be too close before it alerts, so it might be that close for a lot of Fords newer vehicles with front proximity sensors.

Even though I do not mind the close range on the front, I was always curious about the Forscan code: 706-02-01 xx**. It seems that the first * is one value, and the next entry is for both **, which is confusing as they seem to overlap one another.

I just wondered about the "low power mode", and if that sent less power to the front sensors vs the back; as they are the same part number sensors. I thought about "disabling" the "low power mode" and see if the front sensors would be more sensitive.

Anyway, that could be totally out in left field and unrelated; I was just guessing.

It took some time. I too would creep up on what I thought should have already triggered the camera, only to discover that I wasn't nearly as close as I believed. Plenty of times I would just hit the camera launch button myself, because of doubt. (I should admit that I STILL do this on occasion)

It’s been a little bit, so i am not 100% sure of the size. I believe it was 1&1/4” or 1&3/8” hole size. Best way to confirm is to bring the retaining clip to Home Depot/Lowes and compare the drill bit to it. I think i used the 1&1/8” and found that it was still a little too small and then shaved the retaining clip flanges down a little bit to make it fit.

I do not still have the bumper measurements. I would visit a Ford dealer on a Sunday and measure them out.

As far as installing them, i would remove the bumper to do it. Pushing the plastic retaining clips into the bumper, pushing the sensors into the clips, then connecting the wiring harness would be a PITA with the bumper still installed.

I also glued the back side of the retaining clips to the bumper to prevent them from twisting/loosening after i installed them.

What glue did you end up using, and how is it holding up to date?

I used some Gorilla glue. i don’t remember the specific type but can try and see if I can find it. It’s holding pretty good. the sensors have not budged since i installed them.

Does anyone know if I would be able to add the pins to a non-360 camera IPMA? My 302a xlt doesn’t have 360 cams and I got a steal of a deal on a painted front bumper with the front sensor holes. I just want to see if I can add them with my stock IPMA

I THINK the 21 rear cam IPMA had all the linbus chips populated. Im willing to bet tat you would be ok but im not 100%
