The issue why the SCCM doesnt work in the 24 with the 24 part number initially is the SCCM is part of the encryption network..

I dont remember the 23 SUper duty having the SCCM part of it.. but none the less in a 24 if you install a new SCCM you need to have the sccm authenticated.

I just found out helping someone out with this. Saw the message error DTCs.. and knew right away..

How is the authentication performed, can it be done with FORScan?

Let me make an edit. I never say never. I should clarify and say its unlikely.. BUT there is always a chance. THe issue is the agreement takes place on Fords end. It resets the keys and sets the keys in the modules that hold them.

THe Encryption is the big reason that the PCMs cant be tuned at the moment for a super charger or other performance.

One truck that does have a whipple on it the Cluster displays Certified Calibration to let the dealer know that it is indeed a Ford authorized tune.

We would have to really dig into the TRON process and do some things to be able to copy it but since it reaches out to Ford servers.. its going to be hard to duplicate.

Use the 24 sccm, I did the swap on my 24 XL with Jesse's help. If you haven't done the wiring I am selling the harnesses to land in factory locations $150 shipped. I did it myself and went to the dealer for authentication, be prepared to go since your turn signals, high beams, or wipers won't work.

Sound like you have one of the first 2024 trucks with the Heated Steering wheel retrofitted!

What did you ask the dealer to perform -Did you simply tell them you swapped in a new SCCM and needed it authenticated to the truck? How much did they change you for the service?

24 uses a new SCCM. Cant use 21-23 difference in Canbus

So I have a 24 RCSB XL. Just ordered a new wheel to replace the 40 grit sandpaper wheel. I got a heated wheel hoping I could get it activated someday. If I understand correctly I just need to get the correct 2024 SCCM and then I can swap out my HVAC controls. Do I have to get a 2024 HVAC control unit or can I use one from 2021-up? Does every new electrical part have to be authenticated on 24' models? What a pain in the ass to try to make these into decently equipped trucks when we could live in Mexico and buy a Lariat RCSB!

Can anyone confirm if this wheel (ML3Z3600RA) is real leather or the cheap stiff fake leather? I ordered the Tremor ML3Z-3600-VA wheel on the recall and while it was nice with the orange stitching and shiny bezel, it was fake leather/vinyl like my stock XLT wheel so I sent it back.

I copied over the forscan values from my original SCCM, then ran a PMI in FDRS and then I ran the the TRON network repair. Interestingly, the PMI and TRON process both failed, but the SCCM seems to work OK with no DTC's.

I can confirm that the SL3Z-3F791-BA is the right part. I did the same process. I got mine working in mid-April. It not just the SCCM and steering wheel (ML3Z-3600-RA), you will need a harness to connect that heating element. You are required to change the UI to have the soft button which I really hate the design of.

Also make sure you are running the latest version of Forscan.
