Got home from work and decided to turn off the adaptive learning, on initial test drive the truck seemed more predictable, acceleration was about the same in terms of firmness, downshift were about the same as well, you can still feel a slight pulse each time the truck downshifts. I will run with the learning off for a couple days and see how it does in different conditions. How do downshifts feel for you guys? My gripe is that on occasion I can feel my head bobbing each time the truck downshifts, maybe I'm being picky but I hear from a lot of people about how their shifts are buttery smooth.
You should keep in mind Ford has released a lot of updates to the PCM (Powertrain control module). Doing these updates through FDRS is important in addition to resetting the adaptive learning !

Some people swear by resetting the adaptive tables and then using sport mode and driving like a bat out of hell during the learning period. I believe @Snakebitten has done this. My truck isn't following factory parameters so I can't really speak on this method.
I actually just drive normally during the Sport Mode relearn/adapt period. But I'd be lying if the additional tip-in and friskier shift points didn't lure me in to a moment of Hooliganism here or there. :)

Indeed!
The 2021 and 2022 Powerboost trucks I keep updated have received multiple PCM module updates. And the overall drivability is much better than 3-4 years ago. In fact, it's usually the PCM updates that clear the Adaptive Tables for the 10r80, and then have me switching to Sport Mode exclusively for a few days.

I've had a few trucks since 2017 with the 10r80. My current personal 2022 KingRanch Powerboost might have the the best "untuned" shifting of them all, so far. But I'd be disingenuous if I claimed it is anywhere near as nice as the 2018 KingRanch Ecoboost that I had tuned by GearHead tuning. Matt is a 10r80 magician.

I'm tempted often.

Tuning has crossed my mind on many occasion, simply for the trans tuning. I don't really need the extra power, the 3.5 is already punchy enough especially with the 3.73 rear gears. At this point it seems like I need to see if there are any updates for the PCM, then go through the AL again. Looks like I may be in the market for a mongoose...?

Retired and not looking. I am driving the wife crazy.
I just swear. It seems to help as much as everything else.
