Does anyone that has the adaptive lighting have the toggle to turn it on-off in the truck settings menu? I noted this when i picked up my truck that it wasnt in the menu. they told me to schedule a service to have it looked at. The adaptive lighting does work just no way to toggle on-off. I have been waiting to do this mod but thought i should have that looked at before i make any changes. Does this selection go away after the Glare free is enabled? i was looking at a picture posted previously and it didnt have the adaptive toggle either.
You can use the menu or use the stalk to engage/disengage while driving. It’s in the manual

Adaptive Front Lighting (If Equipped) - Switching Adaptive Front Lighting On and Off
SWITCHING ADAPTIVE FRONT LIGHTING ON AND OFF

  1. Press Settings on the touchscreen.
  1. Press Vehicle Settings.
  1. Press Lighting.
  1. Switch Adaptive Headlamps on or off.
Set the lighting control to the autolamps position to use the adaptive front lighting.

This is whats in the manual. they are working but have no menu to toggle on or off like the manual states

After completing this I keep getting two DTC's in the HCM module. Everything seems to be operating as described. I cleared them once and they didn't come back till I drove at night. Is anyone else getting these DTC's?

Just to double check, you have a 502a Lariat? I haven’t seen any error codes, but I haven’t looked too hard. I’ll give it a look on mine soon.

Yes it's a 502A. I did not reset the HCM afterwords so I'm hoping a couple cycles or resetting it takes care of it.

So far after running a reset then recalibrate then a reset again the DTC's have not returned. I also noticed the truck was in a deep sleep this morning so that have been a little to do with it also. When I checked the voltage on forscan it was at 11.5 volts. For now I will monitor it and post updates if needed.

I just installed this mod and while I can see “Glare fee headlights” option in my SYNC menu my IPC behaves strange. I get no white icon when I turn my headlamps on (auto or manual). Only the parking lights icon shows up (see pic below)

Did I miss anything in the IPC programming ? Here are my ForScan IPC data:

Your IPC changes appear correct. My first recommendation would be to cycle the glare free toggle in the APIM off the back on. With the headlamp switch in “auto“ you should be seeing a Green lamp indicator with a ”A”. If you still do not have the green indicator after cycling the toggle in the APIM, try manually cycling the high beam switch on the stalk. First cycle is manual high beam, second cycle is manual off, third cycle is back to auto and the green indicator should show up show.
Verifiy the SCCM 724-04-01 xxx4 xxxx xx change was successful as well. Setting the headlamp switch to “ON” there will be no indicator.

Here is what you should see:

OK, I needed a "dark" place (it's still daylight here) for it to show up. I can confirm that the high-beam switch behind the steering wheel activates/deactivates the green lamp indicator with "A" in it. But aren't we missing something here ? When deactivated, shouldn't we get perhaps a white lamp indicator (without the "A)" indicating that your headlights are still on, but the IPC shows that only parking lights are on ? Same goes for headlights switch in "ON" position. We should get a lamp indicator on IPC (as the actual headlights are definitely on). I wonder if it behaves the same on Canadian trucks as well.

Btw, no DTCs in ForsScan. Will test the actual headlights once it gets dark here

the little bubble on the upper dash near center speaker is the light sensor I just used a towel to cover and thinks its dark and you can adjust in daylight

I understand your logic, but Ford doesn’t agree we should have a separate indicator. What you are seeing is the same as the Canadian truck. The green indicator is just to let you know the automated system is on and “ready to assist”. There isn’t a tell-tale for the low beams ON. Ford considers that parking light tell-tale sufficient.

If this is intended operation and works as designed by Ford, I am fine with it!

Thank you @ROBB1 for getting the info on programming out, and others for your help and suggestions. You guys here rock!

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says it issued a final rule allowing what’s called “adaptive driving beam headlights” on new vehicles. It will go into effect when published in the Federal Register in the next few days.
That is good news and a lot faster than I expected. I will now hold my breath to see what the reg changes actually say. I would not be surprised if it still did not include what has been accepted around the world (under much heavier regulation) for years and required some new headlight design.

The ideal situation would be all the vehicles that already have and have had this technology can simply have it “activated”. Experience tells me that between the government and the OEMs that will never happen. It will be sold as a ”new” option or feature at a minimum.

The symbols you see are the same on my Volvos and former Chevy Suburban (that I just sold in anticipation of a new F150 that is on order). These vehicles are all equipped with automatic high beam headlights, but the icon on the instrument cluster for that differs between GM and Volvo (presumably because there is not yet an FMVSS or EU standard for that).
