Just Googled a ZL1 Camaro and he should have blown my doors... Im guessing he lost traction but from what I am reading they have 680HP?

FWIW a gray Camaro (had ZR1 or ZL1 maybe?) ripped in front of me this morning, so I switched sport mode and we were at the next light together. I spooled up my turbos and let loose, at first I had him, (I think he broke tires) then he started inching up and passing me but not quickly. We hit the next light and he said "You tune that thing?" I said "No, just a stock Powerboost".
Light turned green I turned left and he kept going straight.
He has to feel bad about a full size 157"wb truck keeping neck and neck with his sports car

Just for fun I'll take the bait lol, a tune only 3.5EB has no chance against a Raptor R, but a 2020 3.5EB with an E85 tune, intercooler, and port injectors can run 11.99s in the 1/4 mile. A stock Raptor runs about 12.2-12.3 from what I can find.

Not my time slips or my truck.

So not just a tune. Raptor with a smaller tire and some bolton mods would destroy the 3.5. Again this thread was never about mod vs mod. I 100% agree that the 3.5 has an advantage with basic bolton mods but after that the 5.0 reigns supreme.

A tuned whipple 5.0 retaining the factory warranty? That's a pretty bad return on investment when you can just tune a PB and let it breathe a little easier for next to nothing. At the same time you could put $3k worth of parts into the PB and pick up another 100hp. That torque is already at the trans limit though so adding another 100ftlbs is ill advised.

F150s are popular to mod because of the 4WD and its ability to get out of the hole, just not your F150.
Sorry didn’t realize we were worried about warranty’s ?‍♂ . Don’t forget you start off $2000 in the positive with the 5.0 over the powerboost. Savings that could be put towards a whipple/turbo kit.

Man this thread is like all the import vs domestic pissing matches out there.

You can argue the “my 5.0 configured the way I have it in my head vs your 3.5 configured the way I have it in my head will drag you down the track any day of the week” but you know damn well that’s a fruitless argument. anything can be fast with enough time and money, and sure some things take a bit more to get to the same point but in all honesty nobody buys a pickup truck because they’re fast. People are allowed to drive whatever they want and if their reasons for picking what they did make them happy then there’s no need to mess with them.

and the street racing thing? I’ve been racing on and off the track for 15 years now and the only people who run from a roll are the ones who know they are slow as shit from a dig or know they can’t get traction.
I have been racing on and off the track for about 17 years. The only ones scared of a roll race are either 1. Ignorant and believe their way of racing is the only way. Aka race snobs or 2. Anything outside of gravel road 330’ racing will expose their ride.

90% of random street races happen from a roll. Facts don’t care about your feelings.

I re did my math and figured out why I didn’t come out with the 90% you did

I didn’t include the random kids messing around with their v6 mustangs and Honda preludes on the highway at 3pm. That’s my bad, most of us don’t consider that street racing, just driving like an asshat.

I wouldn't trust the average ford tech at most dealers with your truck and jexpedition pushing.

I waited for a few recalls and the chmsl camera to stack while making clear list of things I brought it in for (as well as a note stating not to program any of the software/modules) -- I had 2 copies of this list, one for the service writer and one for the tech to leave little ambiguity. The first thing they started doing was diagnosing the code for the missing intercooler slats. I caught it within 10 minutes of them starting, called the dealer and let them know I too have FDRS and to stick to the list and stop diagnosing the intercooler slats as the truck isn't there for that. The rest of the process was rather uneventful and prompt.

Furthermore there's around 3x as many 3.5s in the wild than there are 5.0s and I don't trust mechanics to understand statistics / the bigger picture. I've run blown motors and turbos daily better as well as get better mileage. Now high power EVs are supreme sans all out race vehicles which aren't very fun to run around town with and race fuel can be both $$$ and not practical to run any distance with. I take the easy route these days where time is better spent on other things than dicking around with the next thing to break / trying to find fuel.

This board is full of complaints due to incompetent techs, it's not a new thing, but it sure as hell is far more common than it should be. Lots of money coming in at dealers and it goes to the wrong places.
