2024 Ford F150 Pro access tailgate issues

I have a 2024 F150 Lariat Powerboost with the new pro access tailgate. I took it for a little off-road trip this past weekend

the road has some nice washboard sections on it and the tailgate bounced and made so much noise I thought it was coming off the truck. I pulled over and checked it out. I could find no issues

we turned around and headed back home with the same thing happening again. If you have one of these tailgates be sure to test them out. I have a call into my Ford service advisor to bring it in

this is not normal. I’m afraid to put a Camper shell on it as the tailgate movement could easily break the rear glass. I’ll post a video after we try it out again as I’m sure Ford will want to see it

Caveat, I've not put the truck on many degraded roads and have not driven it off-road yet. However, I have not noticed undue/unexpected noises or flex in my PAT.

Will have to turn the radio off and keep eyes & ears sufficiently tuned to the PAT.

Gap? It’s a TRUCK, not a Mercedes. At least it plumb. I’d rather have this gap on the tailgate than the body panels. I’m sure it’s gapped for wear and tear. My only concern is where is some sort of bulb or flap seal. So much for a dry BedRug.

Can you imagine what it’s gonna be like in about 5-6 years? As it is when it shuts, it sounds like a license plate, rattling or something. It’s not a good solid secure, closing sound.

Those gaps are massive bro. It's a $60k to $80k+ VEHICLE - it should have panel fitment equal to a Mercedes. Especially with today's manufacturing vision systems and automation.

The bargain basement entry level $22k Maverick has better body panel fitment than an $85k top of the line F-150. Pathetic.

There is no gasketing to alleviate any play in that swing gate. Any washboard will rattle the crap out of that thing. I would honestly chalk it up as normal for that scenario.

Great point. I didn’t get the Pro tailgate due to its cheap feel and sound. It may be useful, but it’s going to be a major problem in a few years

tailgate w/ step in it can rattle some, but that's just inside of itself. It's not the entire gate/structure flopping around.

Mine has the same gap on both sides of the door and the same shimy on the left side of the tailgate when I close the PAT door.

Once closed the 3 contact points (2 on each side and 1 on the bottom - see pictures) keep the tailgate structurally sound. I consistently have my windows down and back window open and don't hear the PAT rattle.

I'm very satisfied. I specifically chose black because I was worried the vertical lines might not look good. There is a slight rattle when the door closes, but it doesn't come across as low quality to me. It feels acceptable.
