I just seen this FORD PTS. It looks like something I would want to get. Can anyone get that program or you have to be working for Ford?
Save you money. I'll check for you any time you need it.

I hate to be bearer of bad news, but you have one of the trucks this thread is about. Your last recorded OTA was 2 years ago and you are on the dreaded Sync 20301 which is a red flag that your truck is stuck in OTA purgatory.

Your dealer telling you they need to order cables sounds like a full truckload of BS to me. If they needed the "cables", they would not have been able to run a network scan on your truck on 10/26 and perform a VERY weak attempt at updating your APIM. The one attempt they made at updating your APIM to get your truck unstuck failed due to what FDRS says is a poor internet connection. After that, they didn't even try again.

While your truck has the 21G01 campaign open for Bluecruise programming, Ford has told dealers not to perform it until further notice because (for a lack of better words and to avoid a lengthy explanation) they suck. Good luck getting them to update the truck to Bluecruise now. You can, however, tell them your truck hasn't gotten updates in two years and get them to try and update or replace your APIM so you can start getting OTA updates again. Good luck
My appointment is tomorrow. Fingers crossed they can update my APIM. I don’t have a ton of faith, as it is a pretty small dealership.

Update: They were not able to get the update to work. They have a call into the hotline to get the next steps and will call me to schedule a new appointment when they have an answer. @rugedraw Can you see what, if anything, they did if you don't mine. Please and thank you!

I agree, unless something changes on that front I'm not expecting success. There's got to be a reason they put a hold on it, which I can only imagine is due to something in their process still being broken. However it's odd that people at home seem to have no problem updating their trucks themselves the FDRS yet Ford won't let dealers do it?

I don't know if I'm mistaken in thinking that getting bluecruise working on my truck will also fix my issue getting updates. My assumption is that once I'm far enough along on updates that bluecruise works, then I'll be far enough along to get caught up with everyone else on OTA updates.
Well I got 2.7.4 delivered to me on 3/15, so things are moving forward, albeit slowly. I believe the next one is 2.8.1, which is the really big one that requires good battery levels to complete?

I received a failed OTA update message yesterday and haven't received an update since October 2022. My VIN is 1FTFW1ED7MFB53360. Current version is 22177_PRODUCT Revision 473. Any help would be appreciated!

Has anyone had the ota updates done at the dealership when out of warranty. I've been stuck on 2.7.4 and my truck tried to update multiple times back in September and failed. Ford told me I have to pay because I'm now out of warranty.

Im on 2.7.4 as well since Sept. Was at dealer two days ago and they said they would update the APIM. They updated several modules but claimed there was nothing for APIM. Guess I’m on 2.7.4 forever, lol!

If your truck is prepped for Bluecruise you can probably push to get it updated under the 21G01 program mentioned elsewhere. However, I think that’s still on hold. But the argument is that you’ve bought a Bluecrusie equipped truck and they haven’t delivered the SW to enable it as they should. If you aren’t BC equipped I think your options are probably to pay the dealer or go the DIY route with help from those on these forums.

Good news - This morning FordPass told me that I had 2.8.1 ready to install, just 1 week after getting 2.7.4. Hopefully that's a sign that things are picking up. I'm going to kick it off tonight, worried that the update will fail as it's a long one. I do have a battery tender I'm going to hook up, but it's not a super strong one (1.5a I believe). Fingers crossed! If anyone has any other tips to help make sure the update works I'm all ears.

I would take a longer drive if you can, then hook up the battery tender ASAP once you get home and let it charge for 1-2 hours at least given the capacity of it before starting the update. That update is the longest and most problematic with respect to battery charge level.

Well I lucked out. Still at work, I opened FordPass and saw an alert that 2.8.1 has installed successfully! Apparently in messing around before I had my automatic updates set to 1PM instead of 1AM. I guess my battery must be good. I got the alert at 2:05 so looks like basically an hour for it to update. So glad to be over the hump and hopefully 2.8.2 comes soon and I'll finally have BlueCruise.
