Considering Ford sent a note out to all dealers to not perform 21G01 until further notice due to issues with the IPC update involved in the process, I don't think you're going to get much success getting them to do that right now.
@rugedraw. When did this notice go out? I was aware that Ford had included the wrong date in 21G01, which caused the program to expire prematurely, and dealers stopped doing the work. But Ford issued a new notice to dealers in December 2022 which extended the campaign to the end of December 2023. https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2022/MC-10228889-0001.pdf. I thought that that restarted the program.

Have you seen something in PTS post-December which again put 21G01 on hold?

Yup, the notice has been in the home page of PTS since January 4th and is still there. Look at the top left under "alerts".

Actually, my truck still has the 21G01 campaign open on it even though I updated it myself back in September. When I click it, this is what it shows

With that said: At least one member recently reported that a dealer performed the bluecruise updates on his truck very recently, so you can get lucky and take it to a dealer who hasn't noticed this is up on PTS.

Thanks. I wonder what’s going on with the IPC that’s causing the hold. I know that there can be issues with the update over USB but in the December notice Ford said they would reimburse dealers for updating via canbus (DFC). It’s very slow—a 20-30 minute update over USB can take 5 hours over canbus—but it’s reliable. Did Ford put the hold on because dealers were bitching about the IPC taking too long? More likely, they just threw up their hands if the USB failed. I hate dealers.

We are not sure why they put a hold on it. As you can see, the note is very vague.

When I updated mine, I had to canbus it into my truck. The network scan wasn't pulling the IPC update, and Jesse helped me do it. He did mention something about dealers not knowing how to canbus the update it if it update was not popping up after a network scan with FDRS, but I don't remember the details, tbh. It took me over 4 hours with a Mongoose, but dealers use the VCM tool which writes faster, so it would be less painful for them to do it.

Hmm. My experience has been that if a USB update attempt fails, and you go back to FDRS and immediately check the box that the update failed, FDRS will automatically prompt you to ask if you want to use canbus. In my case, the dealer said no to the prompt so I ended up having to do it myself. It was the TCU, not the IPC, but I thought FDRS always offered the alternative canbus method whenever the USB failed IF you let FDRS know it failed.

Correct, however, in the case of the IPC, the problem is the update does not appear in FDRS at all after the network scan is performed, so you can't start the update to get to the part it fails and be provided the canbus option.

That has me puzzled. I could maybe see that happening if the tech just pulled the USB after the failure and logged out or scanned without noting the failure. As far as FDRS would know, the update was successful (or in progress) and might not reoffer the update during subsequent network scans for awhile. Did he do the scan without failing the first attempt? I’m missing something here.

Maybe @Jesse-Infotainment can provide you with better insight. I was just helping a guy I found in F150forum by connecting him with Jesse to update his own truck. Jesse said in the convo to him that he was lucky the IPC update was appearing in FDRS which was goin to make the process easier.

The IPC issue is it is not showing. People are getting all teh way to the finish line without ever doing the IPC update.

That causes a ton of other issues down the road. For several I have fixed those issues.

I manually update the IPC and enable Blue Cruise for them. Eventually down the road the Truck finally updates fords servers.

End of day the IPC update is not showing all the time causing a huge headache for many. The IPC not showing has nothign to do with it being attempted or not it just isnt showing when it should

Thanks. I understand. I misunderstood what @rugedraw was getting at—it was never populating at all (something we didn’t see last year). That would really suck if you got all the way through the other updates only to find that you had no IPC to apply to finish the job.

Its happened. It causes huge As build config issues. It also prevents FordPass from adding BC to your connected services.

Wonder what Ford did. It seemed to go pretty smoothly when the software to enable BC was first released last year. Or was the IPC failing to populate a problem from the beginning?

I just seen this FORD PTS. It looks like something I would want to get. Can anyone get that program or you have to be working for Ford?
