I have yet to find a non-racing point in E85 . . . The energy content is too much lower than regular gasoline to make up for the price difference. [ethanol has 2/3 the energy per volume as gasoline. So regular E10 is missing 3.3% as compared to pure gasoline, while E85 is missing 28%. It's missing 1/4 of E10 energy, thus you would need 4/3 as much, so it needs to be less than 3/4 the price].

It does, though, let you run at higher compression due to the extra octane (which is why racing uses it), so I suppose there could be towing applications, too.

Well I don’t tow, not to say I never will. I just like the flexibility of being able to put E85 or Premium in my gas tank. In the near future I’m definitely going Ford Performance Whipple but that’ll just mean that I’d have to run Premium 91 and up. Now if I decide to go crazier with modifications and tunes after my 3 year/36,000 mile warranty is up on the Whipple then that’s when E85 would come into play but I don’t see myself doing that because I want this to continue to be my daily driver not a drag or street racing truck. I personally want to have the horsepower available just to have fun with it, not to go crazy INDY 500. lol!

I lucked out on my heavily loaded XLT, I got 0% for 72, put 20k down. Someone had special ordered this truck I have - then got tired of waiting for it to come in. I got it off the dealer lot.

That's an overbroad statement, it depends on your overall financial picture.

Sure, some folks may need to 'buy-down' the monthly payment by making some amount of down payment, but the amount one puts down requires careful consideration - there's no single amount / % that's right for everyone. And yes, for some it can make sense / cents to finance at above 0% if rebates and the interest rate combine favorably.

It takes a bit of time and thought to manage your money wisely, but there are plenty of free online calculators to help you run different scenarios, and the payback for the effort can be meaningful especially for those with tight finances.

IMO the main thing is to do these calculations and know your best solution before you enter the dealer's closing office.
i understand your perspective yes, BUT majority of americans cannot afford high monthly payments. it's the minority that is able to do $1000+ a month.

I got 0% @ 72 months on my 21 Lariat. However, if I would have known how much the stock market was going to drop, I’d of been money ahead to pull the cash out of my 401k, paid the taxes, and just paid cash!

0/36 is good to create a lot of cheap repo trucks on lots in a year or two.
What if you have the $80k in savings, but take the 3/0% deal and earn interest while making payments?

Why? Had you just left the $ alone, you'd still be up substantially higher. When someone offers to pay you to borrow money, do it (0% interest pays you the rate of inflation of the amount owed)

I only wish that were true! My 401k is no where near back to where it was! Instead of just loosing the money for nothing, I would have had a paid off truck!

Might consider choosing your holdings a little better? Not sure what you were in that'd be less today than 2021

When I was making money it was fantastic! Unfortunately, I’m 69 and was recently diagnosed with cancer, so I’m not going to be around long enough for it to completely recover!

Ouch, very few managed funds have performed better than market index funds. When covid hit, the obvious play was pharmaceuticals. Once chatGPT 3 released, the obvious play was Ai hardware/software. My ROI over the last 3 years on the 4 players I chose is now 6x more than I put into them.

As you can see, the fund was doing fantastic until it wasn’t! The bulk of my 401k is in a GIC fund that plugs along at about 2 to 3% but I can never lose money unless Prudential goes under.
Like Kenny Rogers says, “You gotta know when to hold them and know when to fold em”!

That was more a reference to car dealers getting any redneck into a vehicle they can't afford. I worked with plenty of people happy to have a $1000 car payment that can't afford it.

ouch.

Just, ouch.

I have insignificant amounts in a couple that haven't managed to recover, but everything else was back above pre-crash by sometime this year.

I advocate having multiple funds, pretty much for in case one does something like this!
