Ford F-150 What kind of MPG mileage are you getting with your Powerboost? Mpg 08282024

Hand calculation was 25.4 MPG. Estimated range of over 800 miles, which might be possible under the same conditions. My driving lately seems to be close to optimal conditions for the truck except for running the AC a lot. I do drive to optimize MPG, but I'm also often carrying a few hundred pounds of stuff.

I did recently tow a full moving trailer that likely weighed around 5000 pounds to Tennesse and towed the empty trailer (2600 pounds) back. Overall MPG while towing was 17.1 MPG.

There is a huge variance in MPG depending on numerous factors. There are headwinds vs tailwinds, acceleration, engaging the turbo, etc. There is an exponential increase in wind resistance the faster you go. The primary factor is to not forget you are pushing a brick down the highway with an internal combustion engine.

The fuel economy number it gives us is a lifetime average I think.

I need to run my fixed loop again as I did testing my 34.1" LTs, but my 75mph MPG is now down to 19.7 post tremor plate install.

I have 2000 miles on the ‘24 PowerBoost and just towed my 21’ travel trailer. I’m getting 13.8mpg towing at around 60mph, running Shell v-power fuel. I hope this helps someone!

If you never touched it then yeah, it's your lifetime average

I haven’t but good to know. I suppose resetting after the first oil change and going from there post break in would be alright.

I've had my 2021 KR PB for nearly a month and have averaged 20.8 mpg.

This pickup will absolutely sip fuel around town if I can drive with a soft right foot. I've commuted to work with a best displayed average of 27.8 MPG over 14.2 miles. Not bad at all.....now if Ford could do the same thing at 75 mph, then I'd be happier than a pig in slop.

[and I'm not really sure which is more improbable . . .]

Did about 400 miles this weekend from LA to Ensenada Mexico, 60s and 70s on I-5, slower in Mexico and some dirt roads etc (slower speed was tending to be electric). Average was between 24-25mpg.
I wish I could hit 24 on my new-to-me PB. Can I ask what wheels and tires you have?

It's not so much the tires, well that's true to a point that is but also need to consider driving habits and speeds.

You want to be able to hit 24-25 mpg then hovering around 60-65 mph will in most cases get you there. 70+ and the mpg starts dropping rapidly. Spend all day cruising around doing 80 on the freeway and you'll never see 24+mpg.

The type/size of tires will make some impact, as will the psi you keep them at. lower psi increases rolling resistance thus reduces mpg but increase it too much and you sacrifice ride quality and grip. The same goes for heavy AT tires vs standard truck tires. You can lose 1-2 mpg just with the wrong tires. Spend majority of the time on pavement then look into tires designed for this vs chunky semi-off road tires. Same goes for removal or a non-functional active air dam. This too can cause you to lose a little mpg. Dirty air filter, worn plugs, valves, or injectors as well.

Thanks. All of my driving has been low speed so far. Light foot. Eco drive mode. The tires are BFGoodrich 33" diameter k02s (aggressive LT tire). I may start by seeing if the dealer will swap those tires for highway tires.
