Introducing Bluepilot! A Ford specific fork for Comma3X / OpenPilot

I have a '23 PB Lariat - are these "can" issues sorted out ( I was doing some reading about needing a resistor or something but it looked like it might have been lightning only?) with the latest ford harness?

Thank you sir. I just ordered the list of stuff from amazon. Can't wait to dig into this. My BC expires in two months, so I was going to get a Comma, but with the 4th of July sale I just could wait any longer.

I was looking at the GitHub branches. Any reason to start with anything other than BP3.1?

2.1 has a lot more features, especially for the long control. But if you are just interested in BlueCruise on steroids, then 3.1 is a great branch.

Under "Routes" it appears as if my drives are being recorded and maybe saved? If so, is there a way to access these? I saw that there is a complimentary "one free month of comma prime". Is this the only way to download and view these drive files? Would be nice if you could download in the event of an accident, or to dispute circumstances if pulled over by a cop. I should say that I am an Apple guy, if that matters.

has mulitple files associated with every segment (each stement is 60 seconds)

Low quality preview video
low fidelity log file
high quality narrow video
high quality wide angle video
high fidelity log file
Driver monitor video (only if you toggle enable recording of driver).


The device can store about 4 hours of data.

The first two get automatically uploaded every time the device connects to wifi. The next 4 you can choose to upload to the cloud by clicking on the drive, jumping the video to where you want the data from, and then click on files --> upload XXXX (video or log). Once it has been uploaded, there is then an option to download to your computer.

I certainly had the video and log files downloaded once to fight a "rolling stop sign" ticket, but it wound up being a non-issue.

This is something comma would have to add to the base software, we can’t add it as a BluePilot feature. They claim it is on their 3 year road map.

If you are fairly tech savy and don't want to get comma prime account, you can also connect via SSH and wifi:

I haven't tried it, but it looks like this toolkit is being maintained again:

My son is buying very soon, so hoping I can steer him toward a vehicle that will work with Comma 3x. I know all 2021 - 2023 are ok, but don't think all 2024s are, and none of the 2025s I think are ok. I promise I'll bookmark or save so never need to ask this again.

It’s probably been doing this since I moved to 3.1, but I’ve just recently noticed two things I’d like to adjust. I hug the right stripe too close. I remember you used to be able to do an offset. Maybe it’s not in 3.1. Second, when making a sweeping right curve (perhaps left as well but I’ve not noticed it) at highway speeds (55+mph), after the turn and when the road begins to straighten out, the truck continues in the turn for a moment and goes to the right stripe then corrects. What do I adjust to stop that? 3.1 has been very stable for me. Steering is great. Only these two items are less than stellar.

Following up to see if there was an adjustable setting to correct that hugging of the inside stripe, I just received my comma 3x and installed bp3.1. Everything is perfect except when making slight turns it seems to want to ride on top of the inside stripe. Also wondering if bluepilot is the only fork that supports the 21-23 F-150, on the initial install of open pilot there was no option to select the truck model.

You can run any fork you want if you learn how to add a vehicle fingerprint. If you want it out of the box you need sunnypilot or bluepilot.

Ajzride said he’s working on an update to correct these issues that have arisen because Comma or OpenPilot changed some coding. So now BluePilot needs updating. He said it would take a few weeks.
