I’m really hoping there’s a way to adjust the sensitivity for the cameras that detect a safe lane change (whether using Blue Cruise or not).

Almost caused a couple serious accidents the other day because my 2025 Powerboost via the orange side view mirror icon, tells me it’s safe to change lanes right up to the point where somebody is literally at my rear bumper rather than a car length or more away as it should be.

If there is a way to adjust the sensitivity for setting the distance from the car in front of you when in cruise control, why wouldn’t there be a way to adjust the sensitivity for the lane change cameras.

For this reason, I just don’t trust using the automatic Lane change when in Blue Cruise because at some point it will cause a serious accident.

My question is, is this a problem with my specific truck or is this just a major safety feature Ford has not addressed yet?

I think when it says it’s “safe” it doesn’t compensate after that..so if someone creeps up, that’s on you.

Nope, Bluecruise and blind spot monitors are a helping aid not a replacement.
To many people get it wrong. You should still be using the age old practice of checking your mirrors and blind spot. Honestly 98% of people don't even have their mirrors adjusted proper.
If you can turn your head to look at the mirror and see the side of your truck you have your mirrors adjusted wrong.

To answer your question directly, no adjustments for the blind spot sensors. If you feel it's not reading right you'll need to take it up with Ford. It's not a common problem that's been discussed on this forum.

What you think is sarcasm is actual advice. Drive your own truck and use your own judgement with your mirrors. Self-driving nonsense is incredibly dangerous to begin with, imo, and putting full trust in a system like that to drive FOR you is pretty wreckless.

You asked, we answered.

No adjustment that I have ever seen in the settings or Forscan. My BSMs are so bad that I honestly wish I could just turn them off so they don't distract me. Like most of the replies state, you just need to check the blind spots yourself whether on Blue Cruise or not.

Interestingly enough, the BSM on my kids' 8 year old CX-5 gives about 2 car lengths clear before it turns off, so it is obviously something that the manufacturer makes a call on. Doesn't seem to be a limitation on the sensor range.

Ok so I’ll actually try to be helpful.
So on my truck it’s very conservative if someone is even approaching at a higher speed but I am clear for a lane change I might do on my own it won’t do it, it will wait for the car to pass.

my guess is your ADAS needs to be recalibrated.

is your truck completely stock or have you done a level/bigger tires? Anything that might change the stock geometry?

You should probably take it to your dealer and explain the issue. They can recalibrate the system and see if that helps. On my 24 f150 even if I try to change lanes with bluecruise and a car is next to me it waits until they are a safe distance behind before it initiates the lane change. It says on the dash something like initiating lane change.

The process for calibration isn't difficult or very time consuming. I have access to fdrs and dealer login and I Calibrated both the 360 cameras and lane keep assist etc systems. It will actually tell you if it's already as good as it can get by showing a 100% progress bar as soon as you start for the 360 cameras. For the lane keep stuff I only drove a few blocks and it was satisfied.

They can also clear the learned values, and Calibrate fresh which might be a better option for you.

And as others have said make sure your still ensuring your own safety. These systems are great but always be smart and prepared to intervene for the safety of yourself, passengers and other drivers on the road. Good luck!

I have noticed the BLIS is less conservative recently. I used to be able to see the car in my mirror and the light would be on and now they're in my blind spot and it may not be on. I always look over my shoulder though or lean forward a bit to check that blind spot.

It's possible your blindspot monitoring needs recalibrated. It'd be worth bringing it up the next time you have a service appointment just in case.

Ask a stupid question, get stupid answers.
Very kind comment indeed. Can you please tell me why it’s a stupid question when I’m thinking there may be a calibration issue I need to deal with or are you just a forum troll that likes to spew hate.
