I don't know about any handshake, but I do think it comes with peace of mind!

Oh, and you get to brag about your resting voltage when you feel the urge. ?

Ok, I'll brag. This is SOC I see in the AM even with my dash camera and OBD MX+ plugged in all night.

New member-Stupid question

First, thanks to all who have posted their experiences with the PB Voltage Vampire hiding in my 2022 PB.

in order to keep the option of removing the OEM auxiliary I am planning on adding an X2 20Ah battery in parellel with the existing unit.

Any precautions should I take to install the parallel battery and avoid blowing the 125A fuse. I did find the aux disconnect in the passenger kick panel.

If you are careful to avoid direct polarity cross-connect, you shouldn't have an issue.
But if you want to be extra careful, just remove the negative cable from the underhood and auxiliary battery before adding the second auxiliary?

Eventually you have to connect battery cables to hot batteries though. ?

5 years in production and it’s still the marvelous benchmark of power, range, and utility ?

Although I am thrilled to own the truck you bestow those virtues, I'm very disappointed that at 5 years nothing has yet arrived to challenge.
5 years is a very long time in this modern era of technological development.

Seems bizarre, when you think about it.

The biggest problem with the absence of competition is that it allows Ford to sandbag me. ?

Very true. I asked ChatGPT for the 2024 PB sales figures and they’re pretty good but I won’t bore you with them. I will share that it went on to boast that the PB is the top-selling full-sized hybrid pickup truck! I responded that it’s the only full-sized hybrid pickup truck. It said true. It’s first in a one-horse race. ?

Means it's also in last place. Signed, Debbie Downer

Thanks for the suggestions. But if you see a large smoke funnel north of Dallas…

Temporary install of an X2 12Vm 20Ah LiFePO4 in parallel to the original Ford auxiliary battery. So far...good. Much better readings on my monitor.

Now to make the project a little neater. I used 4awg cable but wonder if 6awg would be easier to fit in the positive terminal cover. It looks like Ford used a 6 for both wires and a short run with relatively low amperage should be safe.

Another question concerns the better connection for the positive of the "new: battery. I currently have the lug mounted at the #2 position, but it would fit better at the #1. Is there an issue with the fuse that would prohibit the #1 choice

Whichever position is protected by the 125A fuse.

Although the Ramcharger may or may not be right around the corner, I am surprised there is no more mention of a Superduty PB. Not even a blip about a F-150 PB V2. :(

Crickets.

6awg is probably plenty (especially considering how short they end up being).
I only used 4awg since I already had plenty of it in my garage.
