I'm from Kuwait (Middle East) I use 91 (RON octane) which is equivalent to 87 in USA (RON+MON/2) my truck is 2021 with 60K miles without any issues.

FYI Kuwait is the hottest county in the world. Shade temperature reaches 125F in the shade and 170-180F under direct sun.

In my opinion, you are wasting your money if you're fueling your car with more octane since it will not improve the performance.

The highest temperature ever recorded in kuwait was in July of 2016 and it was 129.2° F. You're only exaggerating it by about 40%. Totally helps your credibility.

California has been hotter than that, too.

Bro 129 is under the shade, not direct sun. Go to YouTube and look at people cooking eggs under the sun on summer months.

Well, you're wrong, because 129° is the hottest temperature Kuwait has seen since temps have been recorded. The hottest temp ever recorded wasn't even 180°, so you're simply wrong. Period.

You can cook an egg on the pavement in Arizona and parts of California as well. Go use google. Search what the highest temperature recorded in kuwait has been. It's sure as fuck not 40° hotter than the hottest temperature ever recorded on Earth. That was only 137.1° and it was in Death Valley, California.

Why do you think it's some flex to live somewhere hot?

Man all temps you're mentioning are under the shade not direct sun, I mentioned in Kuwait its 125 under the shade. But under direct sun its not 125 in Kuwait or 137 in death valley. Direct sun temperatures are much more higher than under the shade temperatures. If you're not understanding what I'm saying please don't debate anymore. Google how official temperatures are recorded by metrologists and if it's under the shade or direct sun!

No, the temps I am mentioning are THE HIGHEST RECORDED. Period. You're not hitting higher temps in kuwait than the highest temperature ever recorded on the planet.

There is no debate. You are wrong. Asserting otherwise is stupid.

As far as I can see, you are either a very committed troll, a willful liar, or completely retarded.

Shielding the thermometer from the direct sunlight is not the same as the temperature in the shade. They have to shield the thermometer, otherwise you are measuring surface temps instead of air temps.

The only temperature flex I can add is that I was stationed at MCAS Yuma in 1995 when they set their all-time record of 124F.

I got Schweddy balls that day.

I took the truck to work Thursday from Worcester to Boston and back which is about a 100-mile round trip with mostly highway driving. I was doing 71 MPH on I-290, same on I-495, and 75 MPH on I-90 which is the longest stretch. I had some city mixed in for getting from my house to the highway and the highway to work. The trip computer showed 23 MPG a few times and ended up with a trip average of 22.8 MPG thanks to the big hill getting back to my house. I didn't baby it getting on the highway either.

I haven't put many miles on this truck, especially mileage with longer trips so I haven't had an opportunity to see what this engine can achieve with the duel fuel system and 12 to 1 compression ratio. I think that is pretty impressive for a nearly 5k brick in the wind with V8 engine and 400 HP. My last tank was 17.8 MPG with more city than highway. This was all achieved with 93-octane gas.

I’m most impressed on just how effortless power delivery is with this engine. It never needs to downshift on the highway and even accelerates up a grade at highway speeds in 10th gear. I think low end torque is impressive (and it should be). Compared to my 2014 RCLB with 3.7 V6, it is a beast. Its also very comfortable and quiet too.

Yeah it's remarkable. I'm now up to 21.5 mpg according to the computer here in NASCAR country North Carolina.

Roads are more 45-55mph than my former MA suburb hometown "city driving". Impressive with these new trucks.

About to do my first oil change today at just over 1,300 miles.

This is a simple poll pertaining only to the latest generation (2021-2025) 5.0 liter v8 equipped trucks. These naturally aspirated V8 motors are equipped with a high compression ratio of 12 to 1, but because of direct injection and variable valve timing on both the intake and exhaust camshafts with modern engine management systems that can detect knock, they are capable of running on low octane fuel.

Post your experiences comparing lower octane fuels such as 87 (85 if high altitude) to say 91 or 93 octane fuel. Subjective information is fine, but any objective testing like comparable fuel economy testing or acceleration tests on 87 vs o3 is welcome. YouTube or other videos relevant are welcome. Lets us know your approximate altitude relative to sea level as that is very important information when it comes to octane tolerance.

I‘m on my forth fuel fill-up but I have only been filling the tank with 20 gallons of fuel at each fill up. The first full tank was by the dealer, and obviously 87 octane, but after that it was 91 octane, then 93 octane, and now 89 octane. The 0-60 run I did was with 93 octane and 1/4 tank of fuel. I’m not sure I notice much difference except maybe a little more pep with the 93 octane fuel but I haven't driven this truck enough to know for sure. Hoping this becomes an interesting and helpful thread.

It would be helpful to post as much information about your trucks configuration as your comfortable, including your average fuel economy (be honest), although fuel economy can vary greatly with too many variables to make it comparable.

My truck: 2024 Super cab XL naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V8 4x4
Altitude 0-1000 ft
Average fuel economy 17.2 with approximately 60% city and 40% highway.
Location (optional) central MA
You certainly joined the right forum to post your poll. 14gen only pertains to models 2021 and newer!

I voted E85 because then I could compete with those PowerBoost pansies
This is for the 5.0-liter V8 only poll. Powerboost is a different animal. ?

For my one fill up, I used 91 and intend to always use 91. I used it in all my sports cars unless I was looking for more power. So, I'll continue that same practice.

My truck: 2025 Tremor 5.0 4x4
Avg mpg: 15.1 (only mode I know is sport mode)
Location: Southern California
