Interested in seeing if 2026 still gets its numbers or it's frozen at 2025 levels which many truck OEMs are already not meeting. Freezing 2025 requires more innovation like some good PHEVs which I'm onboard with. Freezing T4 diesel and deleting at least EGR would be a wise move. GM I'm sure is hoping to be able to delete the AFM stuff. Oh also stop GPFs from coming in would also be wise which are DPFs but for gasoline vehicles. Imagine every vehicle having a DPF/GPF?? What a nightmare.

Also they're revoking Ca's CARB rules so no more "49 state compliant" nonsense or "certified CA clean idle". It also revokes their special gas requirements so gas prices will drop as they're able to use the same fuel everyone else does. Not to say they won't increase fuel taxes though. Rumor has it there's maximum fuel taxation levels that will be allowed as well so we'll see. Big news for Calif folks though.

Think about this epa is in DC
The people thst run it and make policy are not elected, they are bueraucrats that most likely don't own cars, trucks etc
Rely on trains, users, car services etc.
They make rules of which never effect thier lives
Or the flip..like John kerry...the former global warming czar...rich as rich csn be...epa regs , taxes, climate credits etc don't effect them
We need an epa composed of real people that have to live within the rules they set

We need the EPA to go away (that rhymes!!).

As noted, it's all agenda-driven, pocket lining going on and none of it is based on real-world evidence. The CA crap was utter garbage, and hopefully the classic cae and mod scene gets a new lease on life out there.

The problem with bureaucrats is they'll never stop coming up with things to justify their existence, while also making "laws" irrespective of the need. Compliance costs are climbing, and for what? So someone in a office can make laws the legislature is supposed to be handling but they can't be bothered with it? Trump 1.0 was delete 3 laws for every 1 added, now it's delete 10 laws for every 1 added.

If it requires a whole floor of specialists for one branch that specialize in a very niche set of laws, and that's replicated throughout the govt, I'm sorry, that's too many laws. We could use more game wardens in forests that cartel grow operations run out of dumping real poisons into our waters. Time for some reassignments :)

GPFs are such a pointless idea. Lower particles from .1 to less than .1? Come on. If that’s the problem then just bring port injection back. And it adds a $4,000+ part to the Maverick. And we wonder why it’s not a $20,000 truck anymore.

Fingers crossed we can get rid of some of the insanity.

We're getting reassignments. Zeldin has already started auditing and cleaning up the EPA's nonsense, but we have a long way to go. The idea of this current administration is to lighten up the government and bureaucracy FOR REAL this time. Best we can do is try and see how it plays out.

But it has to end. The EPA is useless, as are most other 3-letter agencies. They have become bloated caricatures of themselves all driven by agendas that run contrary to what the American people want...and NEED. MPG demands are idiotic, carbon emission standards are idiotic, EV mandating is idiotic. We can choose what we want to drive, how much gas to use, and what we do with our own land and farms, within reason. Nothing should be "mandated" on manufacturers or consumers. Period. For those of us that choose gas guzzlers, there are just as many "responsible" people buying hybrids or EVs...which arguably have worse "carbon footprints" than any ICE vehicle. It all comes out in the wash. Want to make a difference, target India or China...but then they get their slush funds cut off if they go after the big red C.

My Coyote-powered F150 gets slightly better gas mileage than my '65 Galaxie with a hopped up 390 FE, and I'm perfectly fine with that because it's how I drive them that matters...and the fact that I CAN drive them with a huge smile on my face.

Getting off my soap box now...

and people wonder why the EPA is not a trusted entity
OMG private bank accounts??? :devil::devil::devil:
This is just the tip of the iceberg. There's a deaf girl on twitter that's a genius and has downloaded all sorts of databases of NGOs and other recipients of federal funds, she's included not only federal employees but found how to connect family members. Her findings are crazy, easily read thanks to ai software she's written. Pretty much everyone making a stink is a directly connected to hundreds of thousands if not 10s of millions of $$$ flowing to them. Even one of the judges that ruled the payments can't "pause" is part of an entity getting taxpayer funds.

This stuff will make every taxpayer's blood boil -- and this is just stuff that's publicly accessible. Some of the trails go cold as they enter non-reporting and foreign entities. The social security database has over 15 million americans over 110yrs old listed as ALIVE. There's also more than one person connected to 100s of thousands of SSNs, and more SSNs active than there are Americans.

^^^This!!! The exact reason we don't listen to anything anybody in "government" is complaining about with removing ridiculous regulations, mandates, and wanting to stop the audits. The loudest mouths are the most guilty. And they want to tell us what we can drive, lol

Not a defense, just a clarification to direct blame to responsible parties. NHTSA (via DOT) sets and enforces CAFE standards, though the EPA does get involved. While agencies are unelected, our elected officials abdicate responsibility to them through EPCA/EISA (Energy Policy and Conservation Act 1975 / Energy Independence and Security Act 2007).

The departments and agencies fall under the executive branch, so our legislators essentially forfeited oversight to each President. One thing to consider when you enter the ballot box.

Regards where CAFE standards will land - no idea.

Regards new (March/April 2024) EPA Final Rule Multi-Pollutant Emission Standards for Model Years 2027 and Later Light-Duty and Medium-Duty Vehicles (in the Federal Register here 2024-06214.pdf ) and effect on tuners, the potential biggest impact (prohibition of "commanded fuel enrichment") was avoided between the proposed rule in 2023 and after manufacturers/OEM's commented on same.

EPA back in May 2023 originally wanted to eliminate/prohibit use of “commanded fuel enrichment”. A really big deal for ICE vehicles as we now know them. It sure would have made MY2027 SAE J2807 testing “interesting” and Ford’s 2027 Ford Towing Guide pretty jaw-dropping for all the wrong reasons. Tuners wouldn’t be too happy either. Here’s what EPA wanted:
Ford F-150 CAFE standards dropped with new EPA 1739830950393-cw

EPA solicited comments from industry. US automakers and industry groups threw a major shoe when they saw this. I’ve read the comments back to EPA from Ford, Stellantis, Alliance for Automotive Innovation (AAI - industry group that represents car companies – their response was the most detailed). When Ford replied to the EPA on eliminating fuel enrichment, they basically wanted to delay implementation to MY2030 for vehicles above 6000# GVWR.
Ford F-150 CAFE standards dropped with new EPA 1739831131920-h6

The EPA "got their mind right" and backed off implementing a prohibition - for now. They do say in the federal register final rule that it might get revisited in a few years (realistically next election cycle). Page 88, 116 of the FR (use enrichment as search term in the .pdf) outlines their back-track.

Conclusions were jumped to here. This issue was discovered quite a while back - this report explains it. Yes, there are issues, but payments only went out for 2.3% of those listed as "alive" and over 100. It's an interesting report and worth a read. As someone who works IT and has to maintain old DOS and FoxPro based financial systems for my employer, it doesn't surprise me one bit.
