Do you have a mongoose or other cable for Forscan? Here is a lovely tutorial. Take your time with this. Do not rush and ask plenty of questions.

Gonna have to go update beyond that.

I was just saying I would be happy with any updates that get me 1.2 or beyond. All my modules have been updated with FDRS, but I don't have the required FORscan updates. It is disappointing the Ford hasn't enabled the 2021’s. ?

Reach out to @rugedraw and get the forscan changes. Do them and you have the latest BC! No reason to hold back.

Bro 1.4 solves all of this. I often drive a big stretch here in Vegas on Hwy 215. It is about 16 miles. Prior to 1.4, BC would just randomly disengage on a straight stretch, it would cancel out with a panic sound on slight curves and it would drive like a drunk driver - just bouncing around in the lane.

Now, I can do that same 16 mile stretch without it once disengaging. It has earned my confidence. It is incredibly relaxing to have the truck drive so well for the big legs on the highway and you just chill, drinking your favorite beverage and listen to an audiobook, music, or whatever.

That’s awesome to hear. Makes me hopeful for when/if I am ever able to update to 1.4 from 1.2

What does FDRS updated even mean?

It's the Ford software you install on your laptop. It connects directly to Ford and checks your modules vs. what's available to update.

APIM - Accessory Protocol Interface Module
IPMA - Image Processing Module A
PSCM - Power Steering Control Module


Here is a video of the new logo when starting up and a new animation while shutting down. Pretty sweet! Ford flattened it and made it look more modern.

Here is what my FDRS looks like now:

One thing I spotted that is worth mentioning here: When doing the IPMA, it will automatically update the PSCM. The PSCM will do this weird sort of reboot where the truck shutsdown and comes back on. The auto headlamps come on then. I am remotely controlling my laptop from my home office and noticed the voltage drop to 12.8V from 14V. Went to the garage and saw the headlamps on. Beware of this so you don't get drained!

I'm just going down the list now. PCM next!

My pleasure! I grabbed footage of BC 1.4 taking strong highway curves and changing lanes, but it was a very badly made video with too much noise, BC telling me to keep my eyes on the road non stop because i was blocking the sensors and bad camera aiming lol.

I will attempt again today or tomorrow depending on my client's schedule.

I had 3 hour drive to another city south of me today, so it was my first real test of blue cruise for me since taking delivery of the truck. (I’m in a 2024 so I think it has BC 1.2) Overall it’s what I expected..nothing close to Tesla autopilot obviously, but very stable as long as the highway is straight (mostly). As soon as there’s a curve or something it can’t handle (which is almost anything that isn’t straight) it will disengage and ask to keep my hands on the wheel. I had to intervene about 10-15 times. Hopefully version 1.4 truly improves with the disengagements through curves as the marketing stuff states. There were even stretches of straight road where it would disengage for no reason. Again it’s about what I expected so I’m not really disappointed but I feel that it’s for too conservative for the tech the trucks are equipped with (radar and cameras)

Sorry for the issues you are having and I’m not sure what version I have. I used mine through the Smokey mountains and it worked flawlessly. Handled the curves very well.

Perhaps you should read through this and other threads.

Took me a year, including 2+ months in the shop as well as me using FDRS, to get 1.0 on my 2021 back in 2022.

Screws fall out. The world is an imperfect place. One day in my garage would have been great. Too many people have instant gratification expectations - welcome to 2024.

While there may be many facets to the difficulty to deliver all necessary BC software over a cellular connection, I'm convinced the biggest hurdle is simply overcoming the low voltage current necessary to accomplish the procedure.

Even with a direct connection using FDRS, the whole Payload requires substantial external low voltage assistance.

The risk of leaving even 1% of 2,000,000 vehicles in a need-of-rescue state?

Ford just bit off more than they can chew with OTA deployment method.

Just my opinion, of course.

And I'm not saying it can't be done. I'm only saying Ford hasn't been willing to take on the 1% rescue scenario. Talk about the bad press that would get them.

I think you are right. I am contaminated by my experience with my Tesla. It just sits in my garage and updates itself all time with no assistance needed with a far more capable self driving system. It is a vivid contrast just how much further ahead Tesla is with this technology than Ford.

I might add that Tesla does all of their updates with a cellular connection, so the internet connection is not the bottleneck. The difference is that most everything in the Tesla is now done through the Hardware 4.0 computer, not this vast array of modules with 20 year old microprocessors found in the Ford PB.
