What I can't believe is I read this whole thing to the end!
You'd have reached it quicker if you had the other engine!
?

I didn’t include the random kids messing around with their v6 mustangs and Honda preludes on the highway at 3pm.
Flashback, 40 years ago in college (no, wait! that can't be right!)

I'm in my '72 Impala 400 (just a two barrel and AT) at a light in the rightmost of three lanes. A couple of little 4-banger foreign thingies are racing their engines at one another, waiting for the green light.

While they raced, I casually passed them both!
:crackup::crackup::crackup:

And, no, I wasn't open throttle, or even accelerating hard (well, at least not for an old-guard small block v8 . . .)

we laughed; they stared at us, confused . . .

E85 over 87....

crap...wrong post.
To atone, thou shalt start an oil thread!

Edit: I think we all need AI engines to settle the debate.

Also, PB is superior. Ask my wife and neighbors how much they love it.

These are trucks and I bought mine to do truck stuff. Seems fitting to race them doing truck things….so how about pulling a 9000lb trailer? Which one reigns supreme in that scenario? I think we all know the answer there….

I do love the coyote though. The one in my mustang just gobbles up the boost like a juicy steak. Stage 2 Gen5 Whipple on 14psi running e85. Fast as hell and just all sorts of fun! Oh, and my 3.5 tows my 24’ enclosed car trailer like a champ!!!

If it weren’t for the oil pump belt and cylinder deactivation, I’d say the 5.0 is the winner, otherwise, I’m leaning towards the 3.5. Does anyone know if the belt driven oil pump can be changed out for a billet gear driven one?

Had the oil pump belt failed yet? I was thinking it’s going to be more the norm in the future. You’ll change it once in the engines life and then the engine will be totally worn out once that one is done. Not terrible.

Ragging? Lmao ?
3.5 out of boost feels like shit
This hasn't been my experience. We're talking trucks here, stop light races go hand and hand. 4wd, built a little boost....shhhhhhhhhhh is all that 5.0 is going to hear.

This guy is like a Corvette owner at a carshow...

If you're at sea level and don't race from a dig the 5.0 might be able to edge out a 3.5, even though empirical data shows otherwise. And your $700 tune is countered by a $10000 supercharger kit which will definitely edge it out!

Sounds like you're trying to justify your 5.0L purchase and no amount of rationality will convince you otherwise.

Come race my 3.5EB any time...
And if I’m not mistaken, the 3.5 EB was specifically designed to be a truck / working engine, whereas the 5.0 was originally designed for the mustang / on road racing applications.
