Hey all,

New to the forums, been reading a lot about the Ford issues lately. I ordered a Lariat back in June. Went to pick it up, after the test drive noticed the headlights fogged up. Dealer said it's normal, after pointing it in the sun for a little while longer. The fog started to dissipate but also small water droplets started to form. Apparently Ford addresses this issue and as long as there aren't large droplets and streaks running down it's apparently fine. Mind you this truck has a $73k MSRP. Anyway, was about to drive the truck home and they decided to run it through the wash one more time. Sure enough, there was water drops pooling down at the bottom of the headlight now. I said I'm not dealing with this, got a refund and went home. It was a custom order that I wanted for a long time and I'm most likely going to go pick it up after it's fixed. Anyone else have issues with their 2024 Lariat and above headlights? Here's a few pics...

Just wondering if the headlights leak, what else could be messed up with the truck? I looked it over pretty well, the paint looks good, the doors line up ok. All the panels seem to be in order and everything seems to be working fine as much as I can tell.

Ya I wouldn’t take that either. They are supposed to be sealed to keep dirt and water out so they stay clear and prolong bulb life (led life)

Hi there! I can look into your F-150’s headlight concern on my end. To get started, could you please send a private message over with the name/location of your local Ford dealer and your F-150’s VIN?

Yea, I figured water and electronics aren't a good combo. Apparently they said the headlights are "vented" so it's normal for them to fog up. Pretty sure this is the first car I've ever seen that has fogged up headlights that aren't broken. Seems to defeat the purpose of the headlight if it's fogged up and doesn't illuminate the road well. The most basic requirement of a headlight is to have a clear lens.

I am not familiar with the '24 headlights. However, when I was upgrading the taillights on my '23, I noticed that there is a ~3/8" hole in each of them covered with a Frogzskin type membrane that allows moisture from condensation to escape, but not enter into the lens area.

So I guess everything on their lot had fogged up headlights if it is normal?

Fog is normal but if there are water dropletts in the headlight it needs to be replaced.

Definitely not "normal". Ford's quality control is the same across the board, from XL to Platinum. I bet your doors B pillar is just as crooked as the XL's, and your Lariats paint job is not thicker than a human hair.

Water pooling in the headlights is not normal unless you have a 1988 Hyundai Elantra.

So now do I just wait for them to replace the lights and take delivery of it or just walk and not deal with it until Ford cleans up their act? If that ever happens. I have a 2021 Tacoma which is paid off and works well. Quickly outgrowing that cramped cabin.

You have a decision to make.
I respect it either way.
My biggest concern is that you not at least have a honeymoon period with your new vehicle. It's one of Life's pleasures in the first world. If those headlights are going to steal your joy, then it seems like a robbery that you can avoid? :)

Speaking of B pillar, What do you think of this? How's that for alignment. It doesn't look terrible and you really gotta look for it, but still disappointing...

I took my 22 STX in for fogged headlights
They printed off pages from Fords bulletin on the issue with pics of acceptable fogging and the opposite with water droplets
They are vented
Moisture does get it
No I’ve never seen this before on any other vehicles
Why is this necessary for Ford?
I saw a brand new 2023 F150 in rainy weather at Walmart and it was fogged as well
