I have been reading some older threads on this topic but was wondering if there are any new opinions out there. It appears in previous threads opinions are quite varied. I am toying with going full synthetic at my next oil change which will be around 30,000 miles on my 2023 PB. Trying to decide if any advantages are that significant and if I go there, what milage intervals are folks using. Thanks.

Go synthetic and do oil changes every 5K.

I just run synthetic blend and change every 5k. If I ran full synthetic I’d imagine it would last closer to what the truck tells me to change it at which is like double. I don’t care to research this too heavily because as you stated, varying opinions galore. I’ll just stick with my 5k mile changes on blend.

I read a couple posts about rough rattle sounding start, decided to go full synthetic motorcraft, starts smooth as butter. Personally I change every 7.5k miles. But I will be keeping an eye on that valvoline restore oil as I put about 50k/year on any truck I have she gets up there pretty quick in mileage

I've been running Motorcraft Full Synthetic in my 3.5 Ecoboost since around 19,000 miles and change it about every 8,000 miles. I have been doing Blackstone Oil Analysis every time since the second oil change at 19,000 miles and truck now is at 49,000 miles. The Blackstone reports show great results and say I can run longer intervals if I like. I like the added thermal protection you get from full synthetic in these turbocharged engines.

Interesting stuff.
W/ Ai advancing as it is, we're going to continually see advancements such as this. I've always used mobil 1 w/ out issue. But given the variables and laws on the books, I may be keeping this truck longer than I would otherwise given the law going into effect in 2026 that's supposed to somehow determine an "impaired" driver and then prevent the car from driving. It's extremely vague and I don't see that having a great start and likely being punted because it's just bananas.

Oil reports don't account for buildup in the engine and turbos are hard on motors. Combined with the PB being used as a generator, I want to consider all variables and prevent buildup as early as possible. Generator mode is a slightly high idle vs towing which is running the engine hard. The restore protect isn't just internals, it also acts on PCV as it's oil residue that gets built up in the intake.

I'd be great if someone w/ 30k+ miles would scope the motor and intake and run the oil for at least 2 changes to see the difference.

Would be interesting if this helps GDI backside valve cleaning to reduce or eliminate the need for catch cans and/or walnut blasting.

I have run Mobil 1 full synthetic oil for ages and I use the oil change interval recommended by the manufacturer. The only exception I make is if we are headed south for a month and the truck will come due for an oil change while we are down there, then it gets changed early.

I,m not familiar with this "impaired driver" law you mention coming into effect in 2026. Is this a California law or national?

I don’t go by my opinion or anyone else’s, I go by what the manufacturer says is the approved oil as well as the change interval.

Use the Ford recommended Motorcraft Synthetic Blend: XO-5W30-Q1SP.
