Fuel efficiency gains (if any) by going with lighter aftermarket wheels and summer tires...

Thinking of having a new summer set of wheels/tires to go along with an all purpose/winter tires and wheel set. New summer wheels will be around 30lbs instead of the OEM Plat. BAP 20" wheel which I've read weigh around 40lbs. (?). Tires will be a summer touring tire with an EV/ECO rating. Do you think this new combo will provide efficiency gains over the OEM Platinum BAP wheels and OEM Hankook AT2s? I much prefer quiet and efficient tires on summer roads over big meaty off road tires with extra road noise.
*edit* Forget to mention- this is specific to PB engines running on EV coach. Will the lower rolling weight of new rims/tires (I know it's not much) help the truck stay in EV mode longer- thus gaining MPGs?

It's a truck, do it because you want to, not because of fuel. Fuel savings would probably not add up to much of anything but I'm sure it would be less fuel over the course of a summer.

Whatever you do, make sure your new wheels have the same offset as your OEM wheels to avoid any problems. A lighter wheel/tire combo will allow your suspension to be more compliant , fuel savings will be minimal.

I have noticed from my Aftermarket winters that are lighter then stock by about 5 pounds to my 20" sport wheel with Hankooks stock tires, i get 1 mile better gas mileage...

How much will the entire new purchase of wheels and tires be? How many mpg do you think you will save?
On the crazy good side let’s say you go from 20mpg to 25mpg with your new setup! Well that’s about $480 per year at 12,000 miles and $4 gallon for fuel.
My point is if you want them, get them, but twisting the economics to feel better is a waste of time. ?

One thing to consider is how long your tires will last anyway.

Around here (Las Vegas), the UV kills our tires with dry rot long before treads are even a factor.

Then again, you're a couple hundred miles farther north. And I guess keeping the unmounted pair in the garage would help with aging.

I was actually surprised the one time I got told my tire was actually out of warranty; after so long here, it wasn't a possibility that had even occurred to me.

I have summer / winter tires that I change over. I see 1 or 2 mpg difference if that. I real notice that the truck seems quicker. Lighter summer tires.

They make a difference but make sure the tires you're getting can handle the heft of those Powerboosts.

There is a thread with the lightest rims. And tires that someone could find. There may be more information there, or you may want to check in with them.

The OEM Goodyear Territory AT is one of the lightest tires out there.

Depends how much lighter...but yes, lighter will gain you mpgs..but the rolling resistance of the tire construction is also a big factor.

My stock tires and wheels weigh 65lbs 3oz...

Fleet operators have gone to using tires with much less tread thickness as it improves fuel economy. The tires are engineered to be retreaded multiple times to compensate.

Best way to improve fuel economy is to drive at slower speeds to minimize air drag.

Curious if you did this and what the results were.

I went from the 20” Platinum BAP wheels to the 20” Ford sport wheels- which is a few pounds lighter- and the same Hankook Dynapro AT tire. When it comes to staying in EV mode longer - it’s hard to say if there is much of a difference. However I just ripped a 700 mile road trip today from Wickenburg Az to Park City - I averaged 85 mph and got 19 mpg. Not too bad!
