6 months.....first world problems. So you would rather have the 24 with problem?
I agree with you.. sort of...

For me (and my situation), I will have no issue with waiting for my truck if it means there are no/very few issues (ie. Quality is Job 1). That said... the depreciation hit that my current truck is taking, along with my 2024 depreciating even though it isn't built yet isn't ideal. An incentive available by the time I take delivery (this month hopefully) would go a long way to making me "feel better" about it.

"Losing" (vs expectations and historical norms) $8000 ($4000 in extra depreciation on my current truck, plus a few thousand more as my 2024 gets "older") because of someone else's mistake/mis-communication is a problem.. no matter what world you come from (I would think).

EDIT: To clarify.. the problem is that the process/timing changed from the "normal".. although you could say that this is the new normal since the Coof. I think Ford will turn it around and correct the issues. In fact, Job 2 trucks seem to be going pretty smoothly so far (hopefully I didn't just Jynx myself. lol)

I think someone has misinterpreting my statement. I agree I'd rather wait and get a vehicle with no problems than have to deal with numerous recalls after I take delivery. My intention was to bring to light that Farley (and Ford) could be more forthcoming with why all those F150's were being held captive. Just be honest with your customers and everything else will fall into place. I have been buying Ford's since the mid 70"s and have no intention in changing. This 24' Lariat will (most likely) be my last vehicle purchase in my lifetime. I have been saving up for this purchase for a few years now and I'm kind of disappointed in all the delays without really knowing the real reason for them. My parents and the Marine Corps taught me that Honesty is the best policy. Thank you your input it's appreciated.

Ford held up the Lincoln Corsair/Escape for months for the same reason.
Then held up the Super Duty.
And recently the F150

The similarity between each release pause was software, from most reports I believe.

Perhaps there's better methods for Ford to pressure their teams to improve quality, but it's now pretty obvious that one tactic they are using is burdening everyone involved with manufacturing with the dilemma of stop/hold shipping.

It is one way to get the point across, I suppose.

I think the answer is simple - they wanted to unload 23s and hoped delays and desperation would help with that and I believe it did. I don't think they'd just say that. Just business. I think RAM is sitting on a years worth of inventory. More than one reason is also likely.

I read Ford reported to their stockholders that the delays on the Super Duty co$t a $Billion in revenue. Of course THAT version of the delay was being blamed on the strike.

I wish everyone would get together and stop buying these trucks with asinine prices. Maybe then they’d take quality seriously, and stop raping us with these costs. I’ve probably owned more Ford trucks than most anyone on this site, and after seeing Lariat trucks at $80k plus, for crap quality and more plastic, I’m out. Maybe when I retire, but to me this is no different than buying a steak full of grizzle at the #1 steakhouse. If that’s what I’m getting, I’m out.

Well Farely's cousin did run Callahan Auto...

I wouldn't wait 6 months to take a 2024 especially with the steep discounts on the 23's, Still something bigger than just quality checks holding up 2024's. We will likely never know the truth.

But building full production volume of 2023's in December 2023 is a first. My gut says there was a 2024 regulatory issue Ford couldn't meet, such as corporate average fuel economy.

CAFE would explain.
1) overbuilding 23's to reduce 24's counted against fleet average in 2024.
2) explains limiting 3.5eco and giving the 3.5 power boost a heavy discount.
3) Ford EV's didn't sell well at all and were counted on to offset the CAFE standards.

But pure speculation on my part.

I got 24% off msrp on a 2023, with all discounts incentives and "A" plan.

I have been astounded at the construction quality for my truck. I don't agree with the complexity of some of the systems that they chose to integrate, but globally it's a very well built vehicle.

That big Ford dealer that runs the YouTube channel that did the popular Kunes country drag racing series just said they tried to switch a bunch of PowerBoost 2024 orders to the 5.0 V8 because the PowerBoost are not moving off the lot and Ford refused and said “no”. They said Ford has never flat out not let them switch the engines. Something is up.

When I got my 21, my dealer was mostly 2.7 and 5.0 with virtually no 3.5s.

Now its 2.7 and 3.5 with virtually no 5.0.

Something is definitely up.
