I ran my brand new truck down to empty and filled it up. My scanner reads the e85 content at e60 compared to regular gas at e12.9

I felt an immediate acceleration boost and it definitely feels like it's running way better than the dealer gas that was in it.

2.00 gas compared to 3.75 and 4.00 in Florida. These 12 to 1 compression gen 4 are awesome.

Getting 20mpg on the fist 20 miles.

Ya the 5.0 loves high octane, remember the nascar series engines run this same 12:1 compression ratio. This motor very detuned/conservative from the factory to run on pump gas, and it gives you a little more power up through E40. You can build these things to make 700+ HP naturally aspirated, though they don’t have good street manners at that point.

Ford makes the best truck engines across the lineup! They have that 5.0 just about perfect now
I did notice 384 miles to empty with a full tank...I hope you have the 26 gallon lol.

14.7mpg estimated ;)

Once you snap a picture the forensics start lol

Keep in ind that the octane rating of alcohol is smething like 110... So your computer engine can max out the advance... But the gallonage consumption will nearly double...
Stoitch would not require double the fuel to get the same energy. The E85 is more like E60 as I posted in my first post. You will need about 1/3 more fuel to get the same amount of energy as a regular gas. With E85 being way cheaper than 93 octane in our engines you pay about 75 Percent less for gas at the cost of 33 percent more fuel. Its still winning if you are not driving it like a drag car. I am getting 18-20 mpg right now on ECO Mode.

3.31 gears, part time 4x4, on 275/65R18. The tires are light. As soon as you run bigger gears and heavier larger tires you will lose about 3-5 MPG.

Alcohol has about 1/2 the energy of straight gasoline so ratio it out as you may. Pure alcohol would require about 2 X the volume as gasoline... The reason they put in that 15% is to tamp down the required volume.

I get what you are saying but for the readers we will never see E100. It will always be a blend. So ratio it out as you say is the correct way to understand the e85 characteristics in our trucks. It will be 60 percent ethanol and therefore 1/3 more fuel to reach stoichiometric. E85 makes economical sense in spite of the added fuel to the combustion chamber.

I didn't know you can read alcohol fuel %? What? Is this an actual PID?

It's an old pic but we are at 2.35 for e85 right now.
