I am sure a new battery would allow the update to go through. Keep in mind that the algorithm used to determine if the battery meets the OTA required conditions is more than just SoC. It also looks at capacity, temperature, estimated draw, etc. If the combo of these parameters don't add up, the OTA will fail to install. In your case it seems like the capacity or battery data quality (whatever that is) does not meet spec.

"errorCode":"InhibitRequiredHvNotQualifiedLvLow(204)""totalLvBatteryCapacity":"79""currentLvBatteryDataQuality":"NotWithinSpec""currentLvBatteryVoltage":"12""currentLvBatterySoc":"83""currentLvBatteryTemperature":"19""dynamicPostUpdateSocThreshold":"41""estimatedTimeToActivate":"420""estimatedTimeIncludingRollback":"660""currentDrainRate":"9"

Don't panic.....you just got the OTA trigger yesterday so have 29 days to get it to go through (unless the OTA gets recalled by the mothership which is rare, but can happen). You don't need an H8 to get it to go through; just a healthy battery will suffice. An H7/H8 battery won't hurt, though.
As always, Thank you @rugedraw ! I'm not panicking, I'm just fed up with this ridiculousness.

But this battery's capacity???? The battery was replaced in Sep/Oct (2nd time)... My dealer did say the batteries were garbage though and a lot fail, this just seems very early. I do turn off auto stop/start every time I drive to try and help it though. Prolly should just Forscan disable it.

Do you (or anyone else) know if the EverStart batteries are actually quality or just cheap garbage? Some say that they're German made and OEM quality (FWTW) because there's only 2 factories that actually make all of them.

I'm on battery number 4 in my truck, factory, two at the dealer. I then installed an H8 everstart in January of 23 and haven't had an ota install issue since. My SOC now consistently maintains 80 to 87 % all of the time. I also changed my SOC in forscan from 80 to 90%. Throw a new battery in and you won't have to think about it again.

What did changing your SOC in forscan to 90% do?

There's actually a big thread about this, with many of my posts. In short, after installing the h8 I left the setting at 80% monitoring and recording values in a spreadsheet for 30 days the SOC averaged 77 to 84. I then changed to 90% in forscan and continued monitoring. The new 30 day average went to 82 to 87% consistently. So I left it there. I still check once in a while and always find it in the 80's

Nice work and thanks for the explanation!

...Charger repositioned for photo in case there’s a better hookup method...
Rob, FWIW, this is my noco 10 setup. Anderson plug with waterproof cover bolted to battery + and frame ground. Can connect the noco, a power supply for FDRS updates, a portable air compressor etc. Reliable connections with no fuss ?

For what it's worth I had SOC issues denying updates and truck bitching at me when it was cold outside. Walmart H8 900 battery you mentioned fixed that. SOC remains high. I walked out last night running accessory for probably 15 minutes to grab the update I had waiting and get it downloaded. Installed 6.8.0 with zero issues.

I too adjusted SOC target in Forscan I went with 85. Often it is telling me via PID that SOC is over 85, like 86 or 87.

H6 just isn't enough battery for all the electronics on high trim 502a+ trucks IMO. There are several threads on this.

Trust me if this battery has issues I'll be pissed off but based on the numerous posts over several years I doubt I'll have any issues again.

I've been lucky. My truck was built in June of 2021 and I bought it in September of 2021. In all this time, I only have 14,600 miles because I don't drive a lot due to my very short commute. Still on the OEM battery with no issues, no low voltage messages, Fordpass always works, etc.

With all that said, when it dies, I am going with an H7 minimum.

Thought 22-PU1009-DOR-CM/TLC-CSM already did that? ?
Just looking at guide.

What does it say for the update name on your screen?

it’s 22-PU1009-TLC-CSM2

not sure if the “2” means a redo?

They did same thing with the door modules. I installed the first one with FDRS in April then along came another OTA with 2 on the end of it in December. ?‍♂
