Me again. After way too much time trying to figure this out I think I just did. It's Spotify! If Spotify is the app I have selected and showing on the trucks screen it will stop the radio when the truck is restarted. Music doesn't even need to be playing on Spotify when I switch to listening to the radio for this to happen. If the screen is showing the Phone contact list or Apple Maps for example, the radio will keep playing when CarPlay automatically connects. I switched out Spotify with Apple Music and iHeart Radio as a test and both of these work fine. It's Spotify. This is no doubt why it worked for me sometimes I just wasn't paying enough attention to what was Currently on the screen.
Would make sense why I haven’t seen this where I use Apple Music and sometimes Deezer and never Spotify.

Any chance this update ( which I have yet to receive ) fixes the issue of the radio being turned off when CarPlay starts up? I can have the radio playing on a specific preset channel but when I turn the truck off and then back on SOMETIMES the radio will start again on the correct channel but when CarPlay launches it turns the radio off. I then have to go to the Audio tab, select FM, and then the radio starts but NOT on the channel I had been listening too. Frustrating beyond words. Yes, I have rebooted, had the APIM replaced and so on. Assuming this will ONLY be fixed with an update.
My guess this is an iPhone auto play function that occurs when you plug in or wirelessly connect your phone. Google iPhone auto play turn off or check your iPhone settings.

Sorry for the late response but all electronics work that way. If you are watching cable TV and your Apple TV turns on the cable TV will stop.
Same with my UHD Blu Ray player. It gets turned on and the input changed then the Apple TV will get switched off.
By connecting to CarPlay the car assumes you want to listen to music through CarPlay. That’s how it’s supposed to work. I don’t need Ford documentation to tell me that. That’s how electronics work.
Recorded a quick video to better illustrate my issue. Is this happening to anyone else? Even with Fords latest update today it's still not working properly. I have stated in other posts that it has worked properly in the past from time to time. Properly to me means CarPlay NOT stopping the radio.
