So silly that this is allowed to happen. Ford needs to invest more time/money into making Sync 4 bullet proof. The Tech in vehicles these days is talked about/advertised just as much as the engine/durrability but doesn't seem to get the love that it should.

The install video I linked is for installation of the previous version, I posted it to show its functionality. The updated version is very easy to install you just drop the glove box and it plugs in right behind the glove box. A simple 2-minute install no tools required.

Got this one today, and it failed as well. But I am sure its battery SOC. Weird that the mothership gave up on installing 6.5.0 about a week or so ago and then bam, its trying to do this one.

Any chance this update ( which I have yet to receive ) fixes the issue of the radio being turned off when CarPlay starts up? I can have the radio playing on a specific preset channel but when I turn the truck off and then back on SOMETIMES the radio will start again on the correct channel but when CarPlay launches it turns the radio off. I then have to go to the Audio tab, select FM, and then the radio starts but NOT on the channel I had been listening too. Frustrating beyond words. Yes, I have rebooted, had the APIM replaced and so on. Assuming this will ONLY be fixed with an update.

Hey Taylor....did you read this somewhere? Ford documentation? I have been watching it this week. For a couple of days it worked as I would expect it to but then today it's not worked as expected. The inconsistency has me convinced that it's not working properly...whatever that is.

Anyone find it frustrating that Ford does not explain what the updates are in more detail? My 2022 just got an update....... "Refinements have been made to help improve connectivity - 23-PU1113-UNX-DC". Connectivity with what? CarPlay? Android? WIFI? I did a few tests just now and it did not fix my issue of shutting off the radio as soon as CarPlay connects. Last week I rebooted my phone and it worked as it should for three days. Tried that again today as well as rebooting truck and not working. Can we post short videos to this forum so folks can actually see it happening in hops of a fix?

Spend some time on LinkedIn and the software engineering problem will become apparent; none of the FMC developers have English as their first language

To be fair, the new head of ADAS seems to have done a great job making the ota process better. I agree it still is not perfect, but at least it (usually) works now.

Recorded a quick video to better illustrate my issue. Is this happening to anyone else? Even with Fords latest update today it's still not working properly. I have stated in other posts that it has worked properly in the past from time to time. Properly to me means CarPlay NOT stopping the radio.

My experience has always been that connecting CarPlay stops all other audio sources. It's been this way since Sync 3.0.

If my truck is not connected to CarPlay, for example if I turn it off but then reconnect, it does Stop all things because in a sense you are saying I want to 'run CP" it. Since mine connects automatically it should not override what I'm currently doing. Something is not right because as I have said before sometime CP does not shut off the radio. The reason I feel this is the proper way is that the truck should be able to remember what I was doing when I turned it off. Listening to the radio, then keep the radio playing.

Me again. After way too much time trying to figure this out I think I just did. It's Spotify! If Spotify is the app I have selected and showing on the trucks screen it will stop the radio when the truck is restarted. Music doesn't even need to be playing on Spotify when I switch to listening to the radio for this to happen. If the screen is showing the Phone contact list or Apple Maps for example, the radio will keep playing when CarPlay automatically connects. I switched out Spotify with Apple Music and iHeart Radio as a test and both of these work fine. It's Spotify. This is no doubt why it worked for me sometimes I just wasn't paying enough attention to what was Currently on the screen.
