Well, I did do some updating 2 weeks ago and had like 8-9 updates to do and that was the first time I used FDRS, but I did get some OTA updates as well, since FDRS updates.

You have nothing to worry about. As aggressively as Ford is updating trucks you'll probably have at least one OTA in the next month. There really is nothing important available yet and if you got yourself unstuck with OTA they will be coming.Well, I did do some updating 2 weeks ago and had like 8-9 updates to do and that was the first time I used FDRS, but I did get some OTA updates as well, since FDRS updates.
Looks like this dropped either late yesterday or overnight for ‘21s. Thanks for the heads-up.New BCM showing for the truck today
BCM = bricked control moduleA BCM update has been released. I have already heard from someone that did it in their XLT with the Quad LED headlights that they lost both headlights in the update.
So Im putting out the standard BCM update warnings.. seems Ford still cant get it right with the BCM.
It may come OTA at some point also. If I see it or hear any more Ill pass it along but I would suggest to refrain from it for now.
Losing both headlights and you have to wonder how the hell that passed any QC.
I haven’t tested the new BCM update yet, but in the past it was only lower trim trucks (Lariat 501a and below) equipped with reflector headlamps that had headlamp problems. Lariat 502a and above with the projectors didn’t have headlamp problems. I didn’t, even with the “problematic” releases last year.Losing both headlights and you have to wonder how the hell that passed any QC.
It brings me no joy to agree with you. I know it must be a huge burden to develop the OTA system for a vehicle that is manufactured in huge quantities and using the legacy tier one/two supplier model. Has to be daunting.Losing both headlights and you have to wonder how the hell that passed any QC.
IMHO, its well worth letting other people be the guinea pigs for any update. Truck, phone, computer. I hate being at the leading edge of software updates that screw things up.Yep, this is where I’m at. Hate being 3-4 updates behind but waiting for the big one before I put my money up.
Well, I completely bricked my 2021 Job 1 Lariat last year with a faulty BCM update (100% Ford's fault). Thankfully Jesse was able to work through a restoration process with me and we got it back to life after a couple hours of stressful effort using Forscan.I haven’t tested the new BCM update yet, but in the past it was only lower trim trucks (Lariat 501a and below) equipped with reflector headlamps that had headlamp problems. EDIT: Not that it gives me a whole lot of confidence in proceeding, but SSM 52075 shows up only for 2022s. It does not appear in the list for 2021s.
That's kind of my world - and it's really not as complex as it seems. But many companies have poor software lifecycle processes and this is the result. I had hoped that bringing in the exec from Apple would have addressed this. Apparently not.It brings me no joy to agree with you. But there's such a thing as a computer. Having a database and samples on hand for every deviation yet packaged. Then TEST each software update against those samples.
It just makes no sense that it would be this common for such things to happen. Amazing.
I am generally the opposite. I run iOS developer betas on my primary phone, have 25 TestFlight Beta apps, I run the Canary release of Windows 11 on my main work pc, developer beta on my personal Mac, and am generally an early adopter and even alpha/beta tester for many devices and applications.IMHO, its well worth letting other people be the guinea pigs for any update.
