I've never saw need to have them going all the time but I do look occasionally.

Intake manifold absolute pressure minus barometric pressure does seem to match dash boost gauge.
Scientifically, I think that's an absolute. :)

Well, the OBDLink boost gauge doesn't match the dash. Not sure what the difference is with that one. Still experimenting. :)

That's so strange.
On the 3.5 they are pretty much identical, except the dash is 0-20 without graduations, of course

Well, my dash is kPa so I'm guesstimating a conversion. Canadian truck, eh.
Looking like a match to dash with kPa on my custom gauge so now convert that to psi and I'll see tomorrow if the two app gauges match on way to work.
All because I want an accurate gauge for the 6 times I'll look at it owning this truck. ?

They vary by a decimal point but close enough for me. Now I know it's matching truck because I was getting confused.

There it is. Oil pressure 52 lbs at 1300 rpm. Idle is about 38 psi. step on the gas a little and its 80. I am happy just knowing what it is.. the human organism does not do well with uncertaintly... meanwhile my jeep pentastar musters a weak 23 psi hot idle.

Pleased as could be.. i wish Ford would put these numbers up.. nothing to be ashamed of for sure.

Now we need to figure how get this greatness on the center 12" screen......

Honest truth is my lariat is a Jan 22 build.. i have 6300 miles on it.. i usually drive my JGC.. wife has it. so right now.. this wknd driving the ford. I lost the battery in it this week.. so i have been under the hood a little and re-kindled my interest in it. back when i was having fun i was a scada engineer. now i am manage a compute center.. not much fun. but i enjoyed making the displays immensely.

I call those rabbit holes. I fall into too many of them.

It's usually along the lines of "wow, the sky is getting light, that's odd, oh it's the next day"

How do you decipher the PID details in OBDLink so that you can add them to Torque? I've poked around and haven't figured out how to do it. OBDLink has some PIDs that Torque doesn't have.

This is the info I seek:
OBD2 mode and PID:
Long Name:
Short Name:
Min value:
Max value:
Scale factor:
Unit type:
Equation:
OBD header:
Diagnostic start command:
Diagnostic stop command:
Min refresh delay:

Like what?

You don't need all that.

What you would need to glean from any program like OBDLink or Torque or Forscan is what I describe as the PID address (number) , mode, and equation.

Or at least that would be the minimum.

And then armed with that information you would need the device/program you want to add the PID to, have a method to create a PID.

Recently, Fordtruckman2003 "gleaned" the engine oil pressure Pid information from Forscan. OBDLink and Torque did not have that PID, but Forscan did. He managed to actually sniff the data on the can bus somehow and then parsed it to come up with the address, mode, and equation. The dude is amazing! I have looked for the information for 2 years, and he just sniffed it out like it was nothing.

So in OBDLink I used the utility for "owner defined pid" and added the unique information that Ford uses to query the PCM (in this case) to get the engine oil pressure response.

Here's what it looks like :
(The Key information unique to engine oil pressure is red arrows)

Yes, it just depends. I just listed all the available Torque fields. Most of the time several are left blank.

Which PIDs? Nothing in particular at the moment. I'm just seeking how to find the details of a PID in OBDLink so I can recreate it in Torque. I can examine the details of predefined PIDs in Torque. I don't know how to do so in OBDLink. Maybe it can't be done?
