No bolt required. There's a few degrees of play possible in the wheel and you may have to loosen it some and turn the wheel to get it back straight. When I put in my wheel I had to adjust it so on the first drive you may consider leaving the airbag off to make sure you're tracking straight / level with the wheel.
Ok cool, thanks for that

So it could be something I missed earlier on, but would I absolutely need to order a new steering wheel bolt? I got my lariat heated wheel today so I just need to get the SCCM and possibly the harness (assuming my ‘21 302a isn’t pre wired which I’m not anticipating it is) as far as the hvac control, that’s in the future I’ll just use the climate bar on screen. I just want to clarify if I need the bolt or not since I’ve seen others purchase it
The reason people replace the steering wheel bolt is because Ford considers this a single use item, and on the repair manuals, the repair techs are required to replace the bolt. This is likely due to FMVSS standards and not wanting the liability of a failed steering wheel bolt and losing complete control of the vehicles steering.

With that said, I’ve pulled the steering wheel something like 5 or 6 times and replaced the bolt once. I won’t be on the hook for telling you it’s not required, but I will say I didn’t always replace mine, and I’d wager many on here do not.

So, in summary, replace your steering wheel bolt ?

I've always just assumed that they don't trust techs with loctite. :ROFLMAO:

Could be haha, to be fair, that’s a little bit of an assumption about the FMVSS standards, but I think it’s an *educated* ASSumption

Seat bolts are discard items too. Most of the fasteners are. Not sure if the center console bolts are, but given the tube of loctite they put on each one, it's not difficult to snap them. I gently talked mine out without breaking one, then hosed it down with some hexane before putting them back in.

Regarding Sync guest profiles, are these only applicable if your truck has memory settings for different drivers?
I haven't driven a modern Ford without the feature, but I would assume so.

I am profile #1 in my truck and my wife is profile #2. I had to enable the rain-sensing wipers in profile #3 (GUEST on my truck) in order to make them work in my profile.

If your rain sensing wipers aren't working, and the feature is turned on in all profiles, I'd check the sensor up under the plastic cover around the rearview mirror. They are known to pop loose or even come loose from the factory.

I'm planning to do this for my 2023 Platinum PB and building a parts list.

I'm assuming the SCCM: ml3z3f791bb is still valid.

I was looking through the 'Heated Steering Wheel Performance Upgrade 22G06' thread and the parts list at the bottom shows a HVAC controller: NL3Z19980S vs the ML3Z19980K everyone is using. It is much more reasonably priced.

I've seen some sites say its only for Raptors and Raptor R and others say 2022-2023 F150. The description on parts.ford.com states:

  • 03/04/2022, F150, Dual Zone Auto Temp Control A/C, With Heated Steering Wheel, Dual Pwr/Htd/Mem/Fld/E'Chr/Pud Lamp, Drviver Heated Vented Cooled Seat, With Heated Rear Window, Multi Function Display - 12", Dearborn Electrical Vehicle Center
Does anyone know if this part will work or if its missing some functionality I'm not tracking?

Thanks.

That looks like it could be a lightning part number, with the “Dearborn electrical vehicle center” in the description

I honestly don’t know, but I wouldn’t even mess with it. I made the mistake of ordering “NL3Z” ride height sensors since they were cheaper. And I thought I was smarter than everyone else. That’s was $180 down the drain lol. Stick with the parts everyone else is using. The only other thing is if you have adaptive steering (which I’m assuming you don’t as it was probably deleted) you will need a different SCCM

I bet it would work just fine. I saw the same in the bulletin and breiefly looked up the new part number also. "N" first digit instead of "M" just means 22 versus 21 model year part. From the looks of it, it is just the highest spec HVAC controls, minus the digital readouts 21s had like the ML3Z19980K part number.

Interesting. That was my initial thought as well but wasn't thinking about the digital readouts. If i ever get my truck back from the dealer, I need to see if I have the digital screens already as I can't picture it. Might be something I can live without to save a few bucks.

Helping a buddy with a 2023 Raptor. I did mine by switching the SCCM and HVAC. Everything works great. He doesn't care for the hard button on the HVAC and only wants to swap out the SCCM. That said, how do I get the Soft Button to appear on the screen? He wants to keep the Sync screen the same with the button on the top bar. Is this possible? Do you have to turn on the lower bar?
