Hello all, im looking to upgrade my tires on my 23 with 20s. Truck should be delivered soon. I want something for up north hunting property in Michigan. I want a good off road tire but one that performs well in the snow. I had duratracs years ago on a power wagon and they sucked in the snow. Thanks for any insight/advice!

It is a trade-off with good snow tires performing less well than others on wet pavement. Check the customer reviews for tires at places like americastire as you will get a lot more information. Tire manufacturers also rate their tires for traction on various surfaces.

If you’re looking for a tire that work’s excellent in snow, rain or dry conditions then look no further than the BFG KO2’s. I’ve owned an enormous amount of 4x4 trucks and SUV’s with all having the BFG AT’s to the now KO2’s which have NEVER let me down even with 50% tread life. Just few weeks ago switched to the Toyo AT3’s just for testing purposes but will faster than a New York second switch back to KO2’s at the first sign of slippage.

Not sure how much snow we're talking about, but if it's similar to southern Ontario you could go with Nokian Outpost ATs. I have these on mine and they've been great off-road and in moderate snow on roads during the winter.

Just thought you should know: No disrespect but Nokians, aren’t they considered budget tires that are made by Nokian Tyres' with other production facilities in Nokia, Finland, and Vsevolozhsk, Russia? Material isn’t the same as in the states with different manufacturing processes in each country with lower government to no required standards.

I never had issues with Duratrac in snow on my old truck. Thought of getting them again. I did post not long ago asking about the stock Hankook in winter and had plenty of positive responses. I'll run them this winter and next winter too if they perform.

I got 20" General Grabber ATX's this year. Love them so far but one test remains: Snow. They were rated highly on Tire Rack for snow, so fingers crossed.

In light snow the duratracs tend to slide a little bit, but them being on a wrangler may have been a factor as well.

In deep snow, they'll push you anywhere you want to go.

I am also a fan of the Falken Wildpeak AT3W's. Have used them exclusively on multiple vehicles since they first came out.
