Follow-up on the new DSP that dropped yesterday. It is to address the pop/static in the audio system on start up.

SSM 51663 2021-2023 F-150/Expedition - Pop Noise And/Or Static In Speakers At Start Up

2021-2023 F-150/Expedition may exhibit a pop noise and/or static in the speakers at start up that cannot be turned down or off using the audio system controls. To correct the condition, reprogram the audio digital signal processing module (DSP) to the latest software level using the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS) diagnostic scan tool. For claiming, use causal part 18B849 and applicable labor operations in Section 10 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual.

The update doesn’t clear when applied, nor did I see a software version change. But it didn’t cause any issues for me. No DTCs or other irregularities.

Did you try installing it again just to see if that clears it from FDRS?

I did it a second time, and it still did not clear.

I didn’t bother. In the past, when the same thing happened with the GSM and the ABS, it took a few months before the issue was corrected. I’ll give it some time before retrying.

Yeah, i'm gonna give it a little bit of time. I will add some interesting info about the dealerships that have worked on this truck. The VIN history from FDRS is really handy to get a sense of the work thats been done of the truck. I went back as far as I could and documented all the failed attempts at an APIM update. Huge fail on this one... Looks like they repeatedly tried to update things without a charger hooked up. Then they ran the module repair tool and likely didn't have the USB/Ethernet adapters they needed. According to the TSB, you have 20 days or 15 attempts from the first attempt to complete the module repair, after that the VIN is locked out. Based on this its was locked out around July 6th, 2022.

That was quick!

Can't promise you that OTAs will start flooding in quickly, but the truck definitely will present itself differently to the mothership when the next handshake takes place.

Edit: Sure would like your truck to be out of the 1.7.x sequence though before you put the Mongoose away.

Better off continuing with FDRS now.. It will go much faster after that being done.

Spent all day today getting my old job 1 2021 up to date and all went very smoothly though I do have 2 concerns. My PSCM is listed as "not responding" in FDRS now and I still don't have the bed camera sidecard. Any hints or tips on how to fix these 2 issues?

Decided to give my truck a go with the mongoose to update the APIM. Everything goes smoothly until FDRS tries to download the file and I get the error: “Unable to obtain software binary file: MU5T-14H212-BEH Would you like to retry?”
Any suggestions? FDRS is showing green for a connection to Ford.

Never mind, somehow got it to download everything on the 5th try haha. Not sure what was different. About to insert the USB flash drive into my truck and see if I can get all those sweet Sync updates. Wish me luck.
