Someone crossed into my lane and I swerved to avoid a head on collision. We were both going about 40mph. This was the result...

I'm waiting on insurance but Im 99% sure its totaled. Now I get to listen to the ridiculous payout offers on the car... The problem is that they most likely won't find 3 other trucks with similar options and build to compare. Mine is the 157 wheelbase with HDPP.

Based on my research there is only one for sale within a 100 mile radius. Its a 2022 XL model as well with very similar build and package except for color and a few interior differences that I can deal with.

The other problem is in SC the minimum liability required is $25k. Assuming the other driver has that, how am I going to get a "made whole" payout? I'm pretty freaking pissed at the other driver since I had 6 months of plans and vacations with the kids already reserved. It'd be a miracle to find a replacement truck without paying out the rear for a brand new one or ordering a new one that will take 3-6month to deliver and is going to cost $4-5k more because "reasons". Not to mention my apr on the truck loan was 1.9%. Guess what the lowest rate is now? FML

Don't have much input on the financials/insurance side, but this sucks and sorry it happened to you. Good luck with insurance and the replacement!

Any witnesses? Dashcam footage? Did the other driver admit fault or will they weasel?

Sorry to hear this; what part of SC are you in?

This really does suck but be glad you’re alive and able regardless of vehicle and still able to spend time with your family. Rent a truck if ya got to.

But we all get it. If any of us lost our truck we’d be upset and pissed off especially given todays market.

I can’t speak on SCs insurance but I would imagine if their insurance doesn’t pony up yours will. Then your insurance would go after their insurance…right?

Anyway, best of luck

Not sure about witnesses and no dash cam but other driver was taken away in an ambulance. I was told he may have had some kinda diabetic episode because otherwise it doesnt make sense. The police report puts him 100% at fault and based on damage I don't expect any argument on that.

First and foremost, it seems that you are ok after the accident, which is good to know.

With that said, I do not know enough about insurance to be of much help on this thread, and unfortunately, unless you and your insurance company can pull off a miracle, I don't see how you don't lose on this due to all of the reasons you mentioned (inflation, increased interest rates, near impossible to find build). I think the only thing you can really count on at this point is just figuring out how to get ahead of it and move forward. Easier said than done, I totally get that, and you have every right to be upset/pissed (assuming it wasn't your fault), but dragging that kind of negative energy along with you will make all of this even worse.

good luck and keep in mind, cooler heads prevail

If the other driver is at fault and doesn't have enough coverage, your own uninsured/underinsured and/or collision policy should cover the remaining. I'd suggest filing under your own insurance for what you want and let them use subrogation to get what they want back from the other driver's company. We were rear ended back in the summer and the other driver didn't have any medical coverage because FL doesn't require it and FL sucks. We filled under our own and they went after the other driver's insurance for getting reimbursed for the property damage only. After that incident, we raised all our own coverages to higher limits to cover potential future issues.

Man I hate that for you. Glad you escaped without injury. I also live in SC where in insurance rates suck as well as the payout ratee. Uninsured/underinsured should help some. Even if your insurance and the other insurance payout 25,000 each you still come up short. South Carolina need to get their chit together with insurance programs. I wish yougood luck with your claim and your loss.

It’ll buff out! Maybe a little of that scratch removing stuff on the infomercial, it’ll be good as new.

Sucks that this happened but the important thing is that the people involved are okay.

You’ll most likely max out their insurance and then your underinsured coverage will kick in. Talk to your insurance company and agent, this is what you pay them for, let them work for you.

Yikes. Sorry to see that happened... I got GAP insurance and extra payout coverage from my insurance company, out of fear something like that would happen while it's still newish. It should allow me to get into something similar without being upside down.

Glad everyone is okay. Sucks about your truck. I raised our insurance limits just for this reason. Too many people driving around with no or very limited insurance.

1st off good to know your ok
and 2nd SCREW the other guys insurance, dont worry about the other guy. your insurance is paid to protect you and your assets, at least in texas. let them make you whole and they can go after the other guy through their legal means
call your insurance, get a rental and get ball rolling , thats what they get paid for by YOU
