Glad everyone is okay. Sucks about your truck. I raised our insurance limits just for this reason. Too many people driving around with no or very limited insurance.
if you dont have insurance you shouldnt be driving! you shouldnt have a license or be allowed a registration for a vehicle. i think canada is that why isnt it? now it wont stop people from driving uninsured but it would help...

anyway, i'm sure you've already looked but only thing i can find within 100 miles of ya

Thanks I actually called about that one already in the hopes they still have it.

Unfortunately the guy is not cooperative with pricing. He said they cant accept xplan or match an xplan OTD price because they would "lose money". Their truck was a custom order that didnt go through apparently. I'd be willing to take a $2-3k hit but not $5-6k. I paid just under $49k OTD for the hit one. He was asking MSRP which is $54k (plus tax, title, etc).

The guy then spent 10-15 texts insisting that I can buy another f150 with the same towing capacity that I need. I told him a few times it doesnt matter what the flyer says, I need the payload not the towing capacity. He continued to insist that I can tow anything with a similar truck so I blocked him.

Your policy should have an uninsured/under insured. Your policy would cover the remainder if they are under insured, at least in Texas.

PS. Sorry your beautiful truck is mangled. My stomach sunk when I read your OP.

There's a good chance it won't be totaled. They do some amazing repairs these days and if the engine and frame aren't damaged, they will just replace doors and panels with new ones. The downside is that you will be without a truck for months, even if you have rental coverage in the policy. I went through the same thing two days before Christmas when an illegal with no license or insurance caused a wreck on an icy road. Insurance made an offer and I said NO, then bartered it up to a fair replacement reimbursement. I still had to pony up another $50K for the '21. Who is your insurance company? Mine was Amica.

You could give it a few days and try again? maybe you'll get another salesman who's willing to play ball more or less?

did you explain the situation? not sure that matters but maybe a sympathy vote?

i mean you got to wait to see what the insurance company says. that may be a few days, or a few weeks...if its still available (fingers crossed) maybe then you can get a deal made.

again, good luck~

I def explained my predicament on the phone. We then texted afterwards regarding details. He said he also spoke to the GM to see if they can make a better deal. I'll keep him on my mind but I think this dealer just isn't very receptive.

I went ahead and requested a quote from Granger about a new truck order. If it works out Ill get a new one within 6 months. I'm expecting to write off the 2023 vacation year and hope to try again in 2024.

Dang sorry about that. I have Farm Bureau and the other driver had Progressive. I am going though my insurance with the assumption theyll help me with payout using uninsured policy.

I went to the wrecker yard to clean out my things and Im certain its totaled. They dragged the truck when moving it so now the rear undercarriage/drivetrain is destroyed. The bed also has a huge tear in it.

This really sucks!!!l My daughter totaled one of our vehicles a while back. She turned in front of someone on a blind hill. The other guy sued us for the difference between getting a new truck and the payout of his truck. Thankfully our insurance paid for the difference. I don't blame the guy at all. Witnesses said he was going well above the speed limit. It was early morning, and he was running without any lights making it very hard to see him coming. He pushed my daughter 400ft in a full-size conversion van, which will tell you how fast he was going. Totaled both vehicles. Ultimately, I agree it was NOT his fault, no matter the wrongs he committed. My daughter turned in front of him, and thankfully, she was okay. If she had a passenger in the van, it would have been a different story.

Although I am not the "Suing" type, I learned a lesson, and if something like this happens to me, I will do the same and contact a lawyer.

As of late is *seems* the wait times are down to 3 months instead of 6

As others have said the uninsured/underinsured part of your own insurance should make up any difference. As long as you have it, and any decent insurance should. Each state is different thought so call your agent.

One thing to consider for these new vehicles is a clause you can add that pays (+ a % over) the book value. Mine is 20% over what the best deal I can reach if it gets totaled. This usually does not cost much if your carrier offers it, and on these $60k trucks that is something nice to cushion the already sucky situation of having your new truck totaled.

Good luck and I hope both you and the other guy are alright.

A few comments to verify with your agent:

1) glad everyone was ok in your truck, and hopefully the guy who hit you is ok.
2) I would hold off filing a claim with your insurance until you know more about the guilty party’s insurance. At least in my state filing any claim, even if your insurance recovers through the other parties insurance, counts as a claim against you. I think it’s 2 claims in a 5 year period and you become basically uninsurable.
3) You sue him, not his insurance. If he only has the state mins, he covers the difference out of his pocket. Now, if he is driving with state mins he likely doesn’t have any money, but you don’t know that for certain.
4) best of luck finding a replacement and hopefully that happens sooner rather than later.
