Seems I've stumbled my way into some order regret and hoping everyone's calmer heads can set me on the right path. I ordered a 500A Lariat with 7.2kW and center console so pretty bare bones right before they closed orders in May. I thought I was being a smart guy trimming things down and avoiding items the dealer said would back things up like tow package, 360 camera, etc. I submitted the order quick to get in before they closed and now that I've marinated on it I am regretting not going a little bigger to just get the nice to haves as opposed to trying to do it quick. Things I didn't realized I would not have that is annoying: running boards. Things that would have been cool to have since I'm spending $60k+ anyways: upgrade to standard B&O sound system, sport package to get the running boards, trailer tow package and 360 Assist 2.0. So to all you smarter guys out there, should I just stick it out and be happy I'm getting a brand new truck or possibly ditch the order and put in for a 2023 when it opens in the fall and get exactly what I want (knowing my trade in will probably continue to decline). Current vehicle is 2018 f150 lariat for what it's worth. thanks folks.

For me, especially if I wasn’t in a big rush, I would rather have all the things I wanted. If im gonna special order and then Wait, I want it to have everything I want not have buyers remorse (I had huge buyers remorse after trading my F250 for a Jeep thinking I would use it a lot more after getting stationed in Vegas. I hate the Jeep and ordered my F150 as soon as I got to a point I would t be upside down with it).

Not sure why you think your trade value would fade all that much, but I’d always side with getting what you truly want or you’ll just be second guessing your decision and end up selling a year from now when you’ve taken the biggest depreciation hit.
My opinion, if it were me, would be to keep your order but also be calling/searching dealer lots for orders that come in with specs closer to what you desire. Leave your contact info with 5-6 dealers and chances are someone will back out of an order with something somewhat resembling what you really want.

You don't have to keep your current order of you don't think you'll be happy over the long haul. It just really depends on how much those extra features would make you happy.

If you think you really want them, you can try holding out. Who knows what will go on with the 2023 models though. Could be less options than what you have now.

I would suggest looking online for trucks coming in. Maybe you'll find one on a lot not far from you that has the extras you'd want.

People's situations change all of the time, so not all special orders arriving to dealers are spoken for. I happened to find a special order someone didn't want that included options the truck I ordered got removed.

I was in a similar situation where someone placed the order for my truck in December and gave up in March. I just happened to find it online and called the dealer to see if it was spoken for and they said someone recently backed out, so I took over their order. So keep looking and don’t be afraid to call a bunch of dealers within reasonable driving/flying distance. I’m planning to drive 6.5 hours which isn’t as bad as some folks on this forum.

Another option would be to change your order. If your order is not yet scheduled to be built, you can simply change it. I've changed mine two times now. I think you cannot change the engine or trim level, but most if not all of the changes you want to make can still be made and you retain price protection.

For what it’s worth, every time you change your order, it is punted back in the “queue”. Whatever the hell that means. That’s what I was told when I made one change to my order over a year ago. Could be BS, I have no idea. And for what it’s worth, it was worth it to make the change. But I only did it once.

If I were you, I would reorder the way I want, you still have your vehicle and based on the way the market is right now, I doubt your truck is going to lose too much value.
You better regret waiting for it a little longer than getting stuck with a vehicle you are not 100% happy with.
Like others said, check with multiple dealers, a lot of a them are taking custom orders with no down payment.

I had to drive 10hours to bring my truck back to where I live. Took 4 months to get the truck but it is exactly how I wanted.

Good luck with you decision.

You can get 360 Assist on a 500A/501A; might delay the order but you can still get it. You can't get Active 360(Blue Cruise) on a 500A/501A, need 502 for that.

I'd change your current order to exactly what you want. Go though the order guide and pick it out all out. Not worth getting it a few weeks early if you want the cameras, 360 assist, running boards, wireless charger or scales when you're going to own the truck for 6 years.

You can always talk to your dealer and see if they can reorder the truck you wish you had ordered in the beginning. You are going to wait regardless, so get what you want or need to enjoy your truck

Re order. No sense in spending this kind of money and still have any sort of regrets about it. You’ll always see a nicer one on the road and thing “damn..”. Those features are all great but certainly don’t let running boards break a deal for ya, as that’s the one thing you want that can be installed later for pretty cheap.

Unfortunately I already have VIN and scheduled blend date is actual this week so as far as I’m aware it’s too late for changes. I’ve been poking around a couple dealers but will start looking a little further out of state and see what I can find. Really wanted 6.5’ box which is even harder to find right now.

It’s always easy to spend someone else’s money……

But the bottom line is …these trucks are expensive, even in base trim. If you have to spend more than 50K on something, spend more than 60 and get exactly what you want. It’s better to have something and not need it, than to not have it and to need it.

I got every option I wanted. The only things I didn’t get on my Lariat were max tow and moon roof, and I had my reason. They took off my auto park system, but I’m excited to have what for me is totally loaded truck for the first time in my life.

No way I was spending that much money and having regrets. The only regret is not ordering sooner.

I’d cancel and get what you want. (Or try to change )
