So apparently some folks are being told that Ford is giving retail orders priority when it comes to parts arriving and whos are being finished first. This is utter BS, feel free to post dealer window stickers here with blend dates and completed over your retail order still sitting around in a lot somewhere.

Ill start, check out the build date on this finished dealer unit.

Am I on crack or am I right???

I think it's far more likely that they have to get the 2021 orders cleared off the lines first, regardless of "order status" or even priority code because they have to tool up for the 2022s.

If you're unfortunate enough to have a half built truck sitting on Ramp 59 waiting for parts, the parts that arrive for your truck may very well get used on the line first.

I can't think of any other explanation for people who have posted that they ordered in January, February still waiting on their still in production or in post production trucks while people who ordered theirs in March are taking delivery.

Plus the "retail orders have priority" line sounds too much like typical salesman speak for "please don't cancel your order".

It's not salesman speak though, the Ford ceo sent a notice out to dealerships telling them that Ford would be prioritizing retail orders over dealer stock and they shouldn't expect dealer stock orders to be scheduled for a while.

If a customer found a dealer stock order and reserved it for purchase however, then it would be treated like a retail order since there was a customer waiting on it.

If a dealer stock order was already scheduled to be built though, I'm not sure that they removed it from scheduling

What is to keep dealers from ordering “retail” orders and then saying customer canceled? I realize stickers are different colors and don’t think this is happening, at least wide spread, but what is to stop them from doing that?

One way is that the dealers have to have a copy of your photo id, a cash deposit (not all require this) and a signed order before they can submit a retail order to Ford. At least that is what I had to do when I ordered mine. Granted it wasn't this way before but apparently it is now. I ordered mine in November.

And that does happen, just not as often as one might think. Ford is watching and paying attention. And No, you must not show ID, down payment or anything when ordering. It's not mandated by Ford, but rather one of the Dealers ways to lock you into the sale. My dealer orders whatever i want without signing anything, no money up front, nothing. He knows my name and it shows up on the order.

That makes sense in normal times. These aren't "normal times".

ALL manufacturers are in triage mode right now, scrambling to not only produce products today but mitigate the damage tomorrow.

They're all braking their own rules and doing things they normally wouldn't do.

Like shipping trucks with rusted undercarriages.

No ID no down here, ordered over the phone and it is still a retail order. I have been dealing with the same dealership for over ten years and there is some small level of trust between us. On the other hand, the dealership has all of my information on hand and can complete an order without my being there.
