I just purchased 8/100,000/$0 from Ziegler. They were $50 cheaper with PAYINFULL and while I could refinance the other two for 6 months through PayPal credit, I opted to pay with my card. At least I'll get some miles for it.

One thing that has me a bit concerned is paragraph 7,e(3). tampering with the Vehicle or the emission system and components (Paragraph 7 is of course "What is not covered").

I plan on installing an oil separator on my truck. Sure, I can remove it every time I need to take the truck to the dealer, but it is a major PITA.

Does anyone have experience with dealing with repairs under ESP while have an oil separator installed?

Thanks.
As long as the oil separator did not cause the warranty issue I have never had a problem. Now if you had some oil leak or PVC issue within your engine then you would want to make sure and remove it before taking it in.

I agree with UGADawg96 however, they are really not need with todays engines. More for racing.

These engines don't need an oil separator. To many threads to link, but just search, "oil separator" or "catch can" if you want to fall down the rabbit hole. In regards to the tampering statement, I would think the Magnuson–Moss Warranty Act protects you in that your changes must cause the failure for them to deny coverage.

It's a tough call, really. There are probably equal number of videos for oil separator as they are against. Who do you believe?! IDK. The fact is catch cans do catch oil from PCV valve even in these modern engines. Is this clean oil? You tell me. Will it harm the engine/valves if it goes back? There is still no data to prove it either way.

I'll defer to the other threads on the subject and keep this one on the ESPs. :)

I normally don't do extended warranties but given issues so far I decided to opt for it. 8 years/100k miles for $1500 with $200 deductible seemed pretty reasonable to me. I'm pretty sure the dealer tried to sell me similar plan for $10k when I purchased the truck...
Your dealer tried to sell you a similar ESP plan for $10K when you purchased your truck?

Wow.

I just double-checked the PremiumCare 8-year/100K miles ESP pricing for when I take delivery of my truck in PA. The difference between a 0 deductible plan and a $200 deductible plan is $615. It's my understanding these plans kick-in on Day 1. If that's the case, three trips to the dealer for any warranty or repair issue will practically cancel out the cost savings of a $200 deductible plan - and I believe you have to pay even if they can't replicate or repair the issue. Fourth trip in for any warranty or repair issue would put me out of pocket. I figure the odds are pretty good that I'll have at least four warranty or repair issues in eight years or 100,000 miles. I'm going for the 0 deductible.

The difference to go from $100 ded to $0 ded should only be $455. I'll PM you.

True, but the $200 deductible is a $160 price reduction from the $100 deductible for a total price difference of $615 between 0 and $200 deductibles.

The base price in the chart is for the $100 ded. So if you opt for $200 ded, you save $160. If you opt for $0 ded, you pay $455.

ok, I misread your initial post. My bad.

You said, "The difference between a 0 deductible plan and a $200 deductible plan is $615", which is true. I misread it as to go to the $0 would be $615. Sorry about that! :)

Well, just spoke to dealer for tomorrow's appointment and they said they don't have any loaners, won't provide a rental, and ESP benefits like rentals don't kick in until factory warranty is expired. And even if they were to provide a loaner/rental, it would only be after a diagnosis that the vehicle has to be left overnight or it is undriveable.

I'm very disappointed to hear about your experience with the rental car. I thought all these ESP "benefits" kicked in immediately. What about the interior/exterior light and key options? So now I wonder if they actually start charging the deductible immediately or only after the factory warranty.

I'm now thinking the ESP is for after the factory warranty expires. So maybe in 3 years the supply issue will be finally figured out and they'll have available loaners. Good thing we have three cars and my wife works from home. This dealer is less than 10 miles from us, so it really isn't an huge issue her bringing me home and taking me back. That's what we've done forever with all our cars needing service.
