Its operation described as...
Phoenix Domain Controller– PDC - Description The Phoenix Domain controller module is part of the Ford and Lincoln Vehicle Infotainment System (VIS) from Ford Motor Company. The PDC allows the driver and passenger to access and control their phone and media devices "hands free" using voice commands and steering wheel controls. The PDC 4 system also provides cluster displays as well as rich graphical infotainment displays to provide touch screen input and present graphical and text information back to the user. The PDC system works on the Android system providing voice enabled navigation for the user. The PDC module provides a gateway interface to the Vehicle Infotainment System (VIS) for:
▪ Bluetooth enabled Cellular Phones
▪ Portable Media Devices (oh yeah?)
▪ Wi-Fi Networks
▪ Wireless /RF Link (Bluetooth/Wi-Fi)
▪ Universal Serial Bus (USB) including USB PD (aka, can send some voltage to devices for faster charging)
▪ Multiple touch screens of differing sizes for the center stack, panoramic displays, and cluster -)
▪ Biometric, Rear view and sentinel camera support (face as key??)
▪ Apple car play and Google Automotive link through USB and wireless

Seems to run a little warm.... (there's 2 versions)

That's just a PCB antenna, completely okay. They really weren't going for beauty here, looks like they left flux on the board.

I've been laughing about the phoenix name, it's as if they know sync 4 is a dated turd burger.

Ah......it looked burned to my untrained eye.

I'm just excited that it is Android. It will be just a matter of time before someone figures out how to gain root access and we'll be able to side-load apk's and custom roms. It's gonna be great.

When is the last time Ford fixed anything before marching forward with something new?

What's interesting is that one of the modules on its outside is labeled "non gas" as if there's 2 different versions for ICE and EVs. Not sure why they'd need to make discrete hardware like that unless they're only going full-on screen mode in EVs only.

Surprised nobody has said anything about the facial recognition.

I didn't notice until you mentioned it and I re-read it. Honestly, I would prefer a fingerprint scanner or PAAK. After a long night of drinking, my face is unrecognizable the next day. :ROFLMAO:

No, my guess it's for their 25 models at the earliest. The sync 4 work like this was done in 2019 and didn't show up until 21 model years with the launch of the MME. Other 21 model years also go it.

I'm betting that the new dash layout of the mustang itself is showing just how bad sync 4 is. All those gauges and whatnot, the tiles in the MME were gimped. You used to be able to show live things like TPMS of each tire in the tile, then they removed it. Now when you click on the tire tile, sync glitches at it switches to the screen, complete with audio dropout.

Why would the passenger need hands free anything? I’m pretty happy with Sync 4 and I see no reason 5 won’t be good as well. ??‍♂
