Today I had a first with my 21 2.7 with 22,500 miles on it.

drove around town, filled up the tank and then when I got back ln to start…nothing. Dashboard light up, traction control…hill assist…they all flashed “ service vehicle soon”

I tried a few times to start it with no luck. I got out, locked the doors and hit the remote start. Truck started

I can’t duplicate the error now….nor do I ever want to again

anyone else hear of this happening ?

This is quite random, and could be completely unrelated seeing as your truck is very new. But I just got a 22 powerboost a couple months ago…. Prior to this I had a 15 fusion and the EVAP purge control valve needed replaced. This only happened to me after filling the car up. Never had an issue any other time but after filling with gas. So embarrassing at a gas station and having people behind you and you can’t start it lol.
If I filled up and waited a minute or two eventually it would start. This lasted for a month or so and got progressively worse to the point that I’d have to wait 5 mins or so before it finally started… Your situation could be a one off or not even close to the same issue that I had but it sounds awfully familiar. Keep an eye on it and see what happens next time you’re at the gas station.

just be sure you're not topping off your fuel tank.. rookie mistake that many folks overlook.

Not sure what to say--I would put a battery tender on it for sure if you are not driving it every day! I do that to my BMW with zero battery issues as they are know for low battery BS lol!!!!

Thanks everyone

I only fill till it clicks and then I stop

I drive every day

Thanks for the info on the evap valve. I will keep and eye on it, and yes haha I can see how that would be embarrassing at a gas pump, especially with an all black dodge Ram behind you.

My neighbor has 2022 F150 Lariat. He said he had something similar to what you described happen to him at local gas station. He called the dealer when it happened and they had him put the key fob in the place under the cup holder. In the manual under Starting and Stopping the engine, there is a section that is called "ACCESSING THE PASSIVE KEY BACKUP POSITION If you are unable to start your vehicle". What the dealer said was that the gas station possibly has a WIFI frequency that was messing with the keyless start or something. Dealer said that it happened a number of times at this gas station. I know my description of the problem is a little vague, but this is all I can remember from his conversation with me a couple of weeks ago.

Interesting about the wifi, and I didn’t even think about the key bypass

my brother worked in automotive for years, even interned at ford for a summer. He was saying that there are so many modules in there and if one doesn’t work or turn on just right, the whole system shuts down. He said “ imagine if your home printer isn’t working right so your entire wifi network goes down”

Do elaborate...
The act of topping off is when you continue to attempt to add fuel to a tank that has indicated that it is full. When you try to get to the next even number by repeatedly squeezing the handle after it has clicked off.

Doing so causes liquid fuel to splash to/through the overflow which leads to an evaporation canister that is filled with charcoal. This canister can become "water logged" with fuel. That raw fuel can be sucked into the engine "flooding" it, causing a no-start.

Had that happen on our 15 Lariat. Got gas, tried to start and nothing. Nothing worked to get it started, new fob battery, placed in low battery position near the shifter. Couldn’t get it out of park. Finally got it dragged up on a flatbed tow truck. Before the driver left, I asked for my fob back to give it another try when he was chaining it down away from from the pumps. Started immediately with the fob on the back of the tow truck. Apparently the stations wifi was jamming the fobs frequency, so away from the pumps it started. Needless to say, I’ve never went there again for gas, even with the 18 Lariat and now a 21 PB.
