Not quite "whatever", but certainly for significantly more than purchase price.

The cost of finding and transporting a replacement is part of the "agreed value" concept (which is very much different than a "stated value" policy!).

In fact, they send me a message every couple of years suggesting an upward change for my '72 Eldorado Convertible.

But what you *can't* do with them is insure a daily driver. I've asked more than once.

There is actually a "daily driver" entry on their web quote page. But it's just a filter; they won't issue a policy if you select that! (again, I've asked. They're really great to talk too, too).

I have six vehicles on Hagerty, two with liability and the rest just with comp as they wait, and it costs less, with $0 deductible, than just liability on my daily driver. [ok, Las Vegas rates are insane!]

And they're so much more flexible than when they first signed up. I had to send them photos of the '72 *in* the garage before they issued, and it was to/from car shows, car club meetings/events , and "pleasure driving". I asked if If I could take my wife to dinner, and they replied, "We'd rather you take her to a drive-in." !

They now even a "blue moon" trip to work (but boy would my wife be angry if I drove it down the hall to my office!) ?

I know people who have all of their cars on another classic insurer's policy, but I'm pretty sure the insurer isn't aware, and it would be grounds to deny a claim.

So if I ever find a company that will let me insure an older vehicle as a daily driver for what it would cost to replace, I'll jump. (and I know that it would be more than a regular policy, as they're covering me for damage by another driver in excess of what hi insurance would have to pay).

CAFE standards laws and other regulations have shaped how the vehicles on today’s roads look more than many people think.

Regular cabs, especially small ones, have been disappearing not so much because of demand but because of unintended consequences.

There’s enough bungling by the government and adaptation from the manufacturers to fill multiple books but the war on large comfortable sedans and later the SUVs that replaced them has resulted in huge comfortable trucks and also the massive costs of everything from the vehicles themselves to insurance and maintenance has resulted in the dealership lots we see today. Growing up, nearly every family I knew had a van or regular cab truck to drive on the weekends for towing, camping, hunting, fishing or sporting activities.

Our '23 PB is the crew cab, and 4x4. We had the option of the long(-er) bed, but didn't go for it.
We have used every bit of what we got on our F150. The 4 doors and back seat have been indispensible. The 4x4? Well, we've used it, but not as much as the 4 doors and back seat. But we've used it enough that we're glad we have it.
All that is not to say that I don't think regular cabs and long beds don't have a place. In an ideal world, both would be available. But the world we live in is far from ideal.

It's not just F-150, but the other brands, too.

Why do all but the base lines come only in 4x4 crew cabs?

I want a luxury trim, cars don't come big enough anymore, and I have no use for the 4x4, nor a full adult seat behind me.

I'd *much* prefer a longer bed and just enough extra bed to recline the seat.

And I can't imagine that the fraction of buyers that ever uses 4WD, or puts a couple of adults in back, is all that big.

It seems that at least one of the manufactures should recognize the old split between coups and sedans, an doffer something to the coup buyers.
