What's the difference between Ford style folding mirrors and Lincoln Style?

All I was able to find was how to enable/disable it but I don't understand what the difference is.

The Lincoln auto fold does not unfold until you unlock and open the drivers door. If you open the passenger or a rear door, they will stay folded. The Ford unfold when you unlock the vehicle.

Is there a "mode"/way to set the mirrors unfold only when you start the vehicle? Unfold them when you open/close driver's door is kind of logical (the system "assumes" you entered the vehicle, closed the door and ready to go) but not completely - if you open the driver's door just to grab something and then leave, the mirrors will still unfold, so it's not really ideal.

The Ford unfold when you unlock the vehicle.

Only if the mirrors were unfolded the last time the truck was shut off. If you fold them before you shut the truck off they stay folded the next time the truck is started. This works well for me because I have to fold the mirrors before parking the truck in my garage. Next time pull out of the garage, I need the mirrors to stay folded when I back out. While running errands around town, I appreciate the auto fold. When it’s time to park it in the garage I fold them up before pulling in. I like that they stay folded when I pull out for the next ride.
