What welder size can I use with my PB?

I have a 23 with the 2.4kW and I thought I had read somewhere that the max size for a welder that the 2.4kW would run is a 200 amp... is that correct? I was looking at getting a semi small/portable welder.

I dont have a powerboost or an inverter at all in my truck but if you had the 2.4 would it be plug and play to buy that and turn 7.2 . I'd think it'd be more than just that but I have 0 experience at all in that.
Just peaked my curiosity is all. Lol.

A 200 amp welder will pull about 18 to 19 amps. That’s not going to work with the 2.4kw unit.

100 amp welder will pull about 9 to 9.5 amps. When we do the math, 9.5*230 volts=2185 watts, or 2.185kW.

Plug and play inverter and the rear outlets -- don't be surprised if someone sees this and buys that inverter. It's half of what they normally go for. Only other part is listed in one of my replies on the threads of this topic. Just a change in the APIM is needed for the screen to display the second leg.

“Amperage: The amperage settings directly impact heat generation. For example, running a welder at 200 amps draws about 4.6 kW, while a 150 amps setting uses around 3 kW.”

On the small welders, they are not the most efficient. I would worry about the in-rush when you strike an arc. It may trip the truck breaker.

Seems like a harness was needed too? I had come across a 7.2kW rear plug assy panel for sale and it looked like whatever harness I have in my 2.3, wasnt going to work with the 7.2 plug panel. ?

The plug's part number is on the forum somewhere -- it's just the assembly with a little dongle, the truck is already wired for the 7.2 from the inverter to the bed plug.
When you look at the part description on ford's site it says something about ev charging something or other -- it's on the forum.

There's more than one person that's had the swap done.

Oh ok really?? I didn’t know of any swaps that have been done yet and working correctly. I’m gonna have to look around for all that info.
