I can assure you @HammaMan, that preconceived notions of someone's genitalia has NOTHING to do with choosing the V8. We don't make fun of you hybrid or EV guys for being smug, do we? :lipssealed:

And you aughta hear this one run...you'd hate it :ROFLMAO:

I didn't write the inverse compensation law, I just happened to notice it. EVs and hybrids got an initial bad wrap due to not really being utilized to their potential. Now they're pretty much common place in hyper and super cars due to their power density. GM just set the bar with the new ZR1 and rumor has it they're going to make a hybrid halo version of it.

Don't misconstrue my position here -- A vehicle that needs to breathe and can do so sounding good is one thing, every redneck and their dog straight piping their turd is just played out (ricers fall into that category too).
Go fast > make noise. I like to go fast, not attract attention. Different mindsets I guess. Garage queens such as pictured aren't really part of the equation IMO as it's the exception, not the rule.

I run 97e20 fuel regularly and put a TOD transfer case in w/ 4a ready to take down the nascar wannabes and ricers.

This is why I mentioned that I'm glad Ford gives us options. I enjoy both extremes here: my Powerboost is awesome and I loved my 1st gen EB but there's just something about driving my old pushrod/stick shift 5.0 Mustang that just feels more... visceral and engaging than a modern V8, even if it is slow vs a modern car. I just want Ford to appeal to as many people as possible so they can continue to make interesting vehicles.

Love your engine. I'm still trying to figure out what direction I want to go for the 302 in my Cobra since, as I mentioned just now, it's a bit lacking by today's standards, lol.
If you're willing to spend some money and fly cut the pistons, 400 hp at the flywheel can be done with a good condition stock bottom end 302. Money goes in cam and heads. Buddy of mine and I recently did it with his '92 gt convertible. It made 333 hp at the tires on a not-optimistic dyno, and this is before degreeing the cam and swapping to e85. Motor still has original born-with block, crank, rods, pistons, and even piston rings. Rod bolts too. We spin it to 6800 pretty regularly.

If you want visceral, try out a viper. Not a practical vehicle but it's an experience

@HammaMan you have a bit of a chip on that old shoulder, don'tcha? ? What are you calling a "garage queen"? That is driven every time the weather allows up here (it's a conv with no rear glass...some garage queen). It looks like that because 1) I just built it last year and 2) I take care of my stuff.

And nice try with the back-pedal on V8 owner criticism. I assure you, most of us are QUITE comfortable with what we have downstairs regardless of how loud our exhaust is. And let's not criticize a certain demographic because they usually drive loud trucks. If you wouldn't do it to their face, prob should refrain from doing it online.

Also pretty sure ANY v8 manual car will give you a visceral driving experience. Doesn't need to be a Viper. Shit, even a well-tuned Euro 4 banger or V6 car with a manual can do it. It's the connection to that vehicle that does it, not pure power. My 1950 pickup has a 75 year old 95 hp flathead six that can't get out of it's own way. But driving the unsynchronized manual "crash box" is about as visceral as you can get in a truck.

I just find it funny that everyone nowadays picks on the V8 guys, and on here it's the Coyote guys.

V8440 had some good ideas for sure. The bottom ends on those 5.0Ls are pretty stout to build on. Money is in heads & cam. Then free up the exhaust a bit (here we again, another loud V8 ?) and put a snappier gear ratio out back, I bet you'd be happy with it.

This is the beauty of it, you can hate the V8 or you can hate the new TTV6s or the hybrids.

For the last several years the government has been trying to nudge us all in a specific direction. We're moving back towards a free market where manufacturers can put options on the table then we get to speak with our pocket books.

Personally, I owned V8 pickups for 20 years and it was hard adjusting to a TTV6 in my powerboost. But for what I need I've come to appreciate it as a solid performer. Still have to see about personal longevity experiences but I've learned to live with the vaccum cleaner like whooshing surge and turbo whistle, and without the V8 growl. I set out for a 5.0, cancelled it when I found my powerboost on a lot, and have no regrets. I had the option, so I made that choice, and came to my own conclusion about it.

I have what I want in my driveway because I want it, not because a platoon of bureaucrats in a room in DC manipulated the market to force the manufacturer to limit me to that option due to them thinking it's the proper one for me.

Who hates the V8? The 3.5EB and the PB are just very good powertrains! It’s not just the 5.0 that struggles to compete with them, they have rendered all other manufacturers offerings obsolete. Toyota tried a straight up ripoff that falls short, and now the mighty Hurricane stumbles out of the gate. Heck, the fantastic 5.0 competes better than most!

It was hard for you to adjust to more power, more acceleration, unsurpassed idling, and the incredibly quiet cabin environment?

Huh? I smiled constantly for the first year! Seriously, it’s all documented here ?

Edit: I forgot to mention the mpg lol
