I think @Snakebitten had mentioned he is a multi yr. multi truck user of this mat and did not velcro it down, on at least the last truck.

Mine will be coming in the next few days and I was wondering if I could bypass that task as well.

I chose this model for a couple of reasons. Much lighter than your standard rubber mat and form fitted to the extreme. I like the few inches it comes up the sides very much.

Its so light, I wonder if the velcro isn't to keep the wind from sucking it out of the bed but my truck will have a tonneau and when not covered, it will be because something is on it.

I ordered the tailgate mat too, so I know that will have to be velcroed.

One of the vids say to let the sun have it, to warm it up, to assure a perfect fit. I can accommodate that.

I now use the 5.5' weathertech bed mat as my floor mat in the barn when I'm on my back under a vehicle, or any other time I need a clean "soft" floor.
I purchased a 6.5' replacement for this 2022 Powerboost.

I used the velcro on the first truck I put the original mat in. But I don't see it as necessary after that initial application. It's not going anywhere, as far as I can tell. Besides, I almost always have at least some item(s) on it.

Great product. And I don't think I could ever wear one out.

I got the WeatherTech bed liner for my new 8' bed F150 last week and I did not velcro it. If fits fine and when it warmed up it just fits like it's glued down. The tailgate liner had some issues for me: the screw holes didn't line up perfectly but I still got it to fit ok. The hard plastic extrusions didn't fit tightly onto the edge of the tailgate liner and they fell off the first time I closed the tailgate. I glued them on with some silicone and they are fine now. I did apply the velcro for the tail gate liner install

I purchased husky so it would not slide and it doesn’t fronts snap in rear fits so snug it has no where to go.

Did not like the fact that Fords mats do not extend under the gas pedal. A lot of wear occurs there, and grease asphalt mud and dirt bush off one’s shoe sole.

This was because of a law suit, problem was not the mat but the fact folks were installing the runner on top of their carpet mats.

What ever you buy, DO NOT ever double up mats on any vehicle!

I just just found a trick to deal with the extrusions. Throw the directions away. I couldn't get it to work as described.

What did work, was putting them on the sheet metal, pushing the now assembly, into its locking place against the tailgate top, loosely installing the screws, with washers, through the mat in the row towards the bed. and then pinching the mat up enough to work it into the extrusions.

Finish bolting it down and you're good.

My bad here thought we were talking interior. Re read now I understand we are talking bed mat.
Just glossed over that part.

I went dealer spray in. So can’t offer much here.

But the advice on not doubling up still stands!

Thanks Snakebitten for the thumbs up anyway.

@Wallyo

I'm the worst example of posting outside the strict-zone of an OP. So the bar for a thumbs up from me is solely based on my enjoying the contribution. :)

Since its been a couple months, I wanted to give a quick review of the Weathertech bed mat.

The perfect fit didn't surprise me, or even that it isn't really necessary to use the velcro at installation (on the bed mat). What surprised me, was that I was a little concerned that it might be slicker than a standard rubber mat and things would shift.

They don't. I've used the same Husky rubber bed mat since 1990.

Things stay where they're put BETTER, on the Weathertech. Much better in fact.

There are only 2 dings I can give it and both are on the tailgate mat.

1) At installation, I had to deviate from the directions to get the plastic channels to fit properly, going almost opposite of the order in the instructions so, PIA.

2) Yesterday, I hauled several loads of lumber and when pulling them out, in 2 places, those plastic channels caught small splinters that lodged themselves into it. A thin bladed screw driver worked them out but I can see that as a maintenance chore and probably an eventual wear item, at least on working trucks.

I agree on the bed mat praise. 3 trucks with it now.
I skipped the tailgate piece though. I'm fine with the new Ford work surface tailgate. It can take a beating, it appears.

Yeah, I looked into getting the work surface but that is something you have to order at build time.

The tailgates are different. You can't just bolt it on.

The other option is the plastic style bedliner tailgate mats. I had one on my 01. It worked well but it wasn't very comfortable to sit on.

Has anyone had an issue with water collecting in the front of the bed with the Techliner bed mat? If so, how did you deal with it? Thanks!

Only when parked, of course.
Water would collect there in every bed if the bed was actually water tight.

You can cut a drain of some kind if it presents a problem to your cargo?

I never have though. The water leaves the mat as soon as the truck is in motion.

Snake: do you have a spray in liner in addition to the Tech Liner mat or do you just use the mat? I am trying to decide on the new truck if I just go this route and forego the usual Line X expense.

I'm getting old and everything is harder now on my knees and elbows and shoulders.........and I'm in and out of the back almost daily.
So I tried out a bedrug this time around, just to soften things up a bit.

I took a picture a few days ago when addressing the axle bolts. It shows all surfaces and textures available these days for the bed of a modern pickup.
The weathertech handles all the dirty work for sure. You can just see it along the edges.

After seeing this picture, I am sure you could offer tours of the various innovations you have going on at Snakebitten Lair. :)
