Just goes to prove that these trucks and the 10r80 aren't mysterious voodoo ensembles. A tech with the tenacity to follow through with professional expertise can FIX them. They aren't mysteries.

They are complex, admittedly, but when everything is right they perform as designed.

Welcome to a properly functioning 10r80. There are many many thousands of them in perfect working order.

What amazes me is they technically didn't actually touch the transmission after identifying the problem was caused by the rear end. The TSB 24-2126 update appears to have resolved the minor complaints I had with the transmission. Not sure what all was in that update that specifically addresses the transmission behavior, but I'll take it either way.

So apon disassembly did they see what the actual problem was or did they not care at that point. Just curious if the max tow axle problem caused something else to fail. ( I know you said your bolts never failed).

What I was told is when they opened the rear up and inspected everything the spider gears were found to have no wear and were within spec, but that there was a significant reduction of torque being sent to the driver's rear wheel. That's when they got approval to replace both axles, bearings, and differential. Essentially rebuilding the rear end with all new parts.
