Yeah, in retrospect, it was practically a "DOH!" moment.May i offer some long term observations
The 21 f250,
The 22 f150
23 explorer st
The 24 f250
All were able to use ford pass
If you press lock it would query imo every module and yes cause adjustments in battery voltage
But if those vehicles were driven at least every other day, it was not enough to effect battery enough to stop ford pass from communicating with said vehicles. I use ford pass ALOT.
As well as remote start.
There was a time on the 22 the 23 ex
That bms was all screwed up
But once it was updated the battery situation was not problem, unless the user...caused batteries to get low
You know opening doors many times
Running boards eat up juice
My 24..only battery issue so far is ones I caused
Even after it sits for a week or longer
And to add, we all know if you walk by the locked vehicle...it detects you and awakens certain modules
You can hear them in some cases
In my situation
If either vehicle the 23 ex or 24 sits a week
It gets charged . Just to ensure battery is up for updates etc
I installed the NOCO Genius 2D. No buttons to push and numerous chargers claim to be AGM compatible. But if you're not used to that small of a charger, it will seem quite underpowered.I saw in an earlier comment that someone is using an onboard Noco Genius 2d. It is a 2 amp charger. Is that enough to overcome the voltage drop, or would a higher amp charger work better, like the Genius 5, which is a 5 amp.
Does anyone have a larger charger mounted onboard and if so, which one? Are there any that automatically detect the AGM type battery or do you have to press the button each time you connect it?
My goal is to hard wire, and mount it so all I have to do is plug in an extension cord at the grill without opening the hood every time and without the charger being out in the weather while charging. It seems like a simple thing, but all the ones I have seen require accessing the charger to set up the battery type. Thanks for any help you may have.
