I just posted in another thread some of the stuff I've learned about batteries... They are all made by a small number of manufacturers and then rebranded. Clarios is one of the largest and bought Johnson Controls a few years ago. They make 1/3 of all car batteries including Motorcraft, Optima, Walmart, etc. NAPA used to use Exide but switched to East Penn. It's not easy to sort out but the important thing is to get the biggest battery you can fit and from a retailer that has lots of stores so you can replace it easily.

Yes that seemed to be the popular consensus on here about batteries and warranties and availability. Wanted to go yellow top , but the whole " can I get it replaced " easily .....came into play. And honestly , got the biggest Die Hard I could find , been using for years , I'm ok with the good warranty too, and Advanced Auto has way better hours.

I put in a NAPA catalog battery (9894R) in fall of 21. Have had zero issues since thru three Wyoming winters. Note that with NAPA you can make good on a warranty nationwide. I once bought a NAPA battery on the island of Guam (where the equatorial heat kills batteries early) and on return to the US it failed and no hesitation at the local NAPA place to warranty it.

I'm probably going to do the same shortly. Now I just have to figure where I put the Aux battery replacement so I can change both at the same time. I know I wrote down the Aux battery replacement but now I cannot remember where it is. :)

Costco Energizer H8 AGM, 900 Cold Cranking Amps. Bought it mostly due to the warranty (5 year limited, 100 months prorated). The manufacturer is Clarios (formerly Johnson Controls) and they have a good track record. After my experience with Motorcraft batteries in this truck and in my work fleet I wanted to steer clear.

Does your battery not need to use the blanket?

It probably does. The blanket was backordered when I did the swap and my previous blanket was destroyed by rodents, so I wasn't particularly motivated to get another one.

Indeed, "johnson controls" is on just about every battery I've checked. For FLAs, I'd get around 5 years out of walmart's $50 (now $60) specials in various vehicles. Unfortunately when it comes to AGMs, there's no cheap versions outside of our factory battery and even that's not priced cheap enough (nor would it be worth the headache even if it were).

Weize batteries are highly rated. I did the spin thing and it gave me an 8% discount making the H7 $133 delivered and the H8 $136 delivered with no core charge.

H8 900cca $149 delivered
or
H7 8580cca $145 delivered

Called AAA and had them install their H7 battery made by Interstate. $218. AAA works all through the country and Canada
