How to use this say when camping? Don't want to keep engine on for a 2 hour meeting.

If you are camping, but not in generator mode on a Powerboost, then the necessary modules will not be fired up to use the onboard Wifi & LTE connection.

However, if you have an ample battery charger with a Power-Supply mode, you could attach it to the battery and put the truck in accessory mode?
I suspect that you would have to intervene if/when any timer on the truck was triggered to turn itself off. I'm not sure if accessory mode does that similar to idle mode. Which I believe prompts you on the instrument cluster after 30 minutes?

I can confirm that generator mode on a powerboost will keep the wifi running. I've used it numerous times in this manner on long campouts. Without generator mode, accessory mode or idle will timeout; perhaps there is a forscan mod to change the timeout? As mentioned, you might need to add extra battery capacity.

Just a note on the wifi though... it doesn't broadcast too far from the vehicle; you have to be pretty close to get decent speeds

Why would you not hot spot you phone? it is not like the truck has free wifi, there is a cell bill with that connection as well...

I have meeting in my truck all the time and i just hot spot my phone to my laptop and have my meeting.

I leave my devices plugged in to the truck while driving so they have a good charge in them and i am good to go

Regarding Cellphone wifi, I've noticed the desert camping areas I'm in, has better ATT data speeds than i do with Tmobile.

Mine as well try to test out the rest of the free 3gb, then also one month since i have a 5 day camping trip planned.

I Could get a hotspot, but wanted to see if i could use this feature.

Very easy to cancel the plan, so no harm no foul.

Ahh that makes sense, i guess an external battery charger or just idle and waste some fuel for now.

Thanks for the replies guys!

Careful, that 3gb free does not last that long, and it is 3gb or 3 months, whichever comes first and I've heard where it has disappeared, IE been used up, within the first few weeks, then goes into billed mode after that.

Hey @redline , my rational for not just using the phone data plan:

1) I burn-up my TMobile Data Plan (5G data) monthly, did even before I had the truck, and often with just the phone Apps. Connecting my phone and PC(s) to Ford ATT Hot-Spot avoids this for my use cases.
2) Ford ATT HotSpot great when traveling with others, who do not have the data plan or other devics including phones, tablets, and other PC/laptops.
3) Traveling throughout the Southwest, there are times ATT is better, and times TMobile is better. At times I need one or the other to be solid, especially down towards the border.
4) Downloading camera data from the phone App is convient when using Ford ATT connected to my home workstation connected to its network where the camera is connected. This one is really cuase my laptops are connected to docking station (Targus DOCK182) with several screens, not just thier internal one and it makes productivity much easier.
5) Sure is convient when making Forscan changes to have my PC connected in the truck and not needing my phone.
6) Watching Netflix/Hulu/etc. on tablet connected to Ford ATT when mobile Apps fail to stream ;)

The price is actually a bit lower than many ISPs charge for the simular utility serice.

all good reasons for US peeps

in canada there is tower sharing agreements in place which means coverage is largely the same regardless of carrier.
in the business i own my phone has a huge data plan and is also pooled with corporate phones so i have access to hundreds of gigs of data, the truck having a data plan is just a waste of money... plus my ipad is cell enabled and in the same pool if i want another device to hotspot and not my phone...

but good thing we have options and solutions for different needs and peeps
