I'm having a new issue.... I get in, carplay is all good and playing my music (pandora) for about 30 seconds, then the sound just disappears. No carplay app at all gives sound yet the radio works fine, the carplay nav works on turn by turn so it's connected.... just the sound disappears...

Was playing music today, had a call... all good then after the call finished no sound at all.... so I switched to radio, listened for a few minutes then switched back to a new pandora playlist and sound started again....

That's not always successful as it also depends on signal strength I think...

Anyone have thoughts?

I run into the same issue time and time again. I typically take the steps you mentioned, or hold the screen power button and next track buttons at the same time for 10 seconds to restart it. Haven’t found any great resolution to the issue though…

I’ve had constant CarPlay issues since the day I bought the truck. Using apple, Waze, or goggle maps it always shows the map inverted and displays all of the roads behind me when using wireless CarPlay. Wired normally fixed the issue. Upon start up the right side of the screen would just be black where I normally have the audio currently playing. Id have to click full screen then minimize again to get it back. Been to the dealer 3 times and they said there’s nothing they can do.

Now as of a week ago CarPlay doesn’t work at all wireless or wired. Tried forgetting device from my phone and deleting phone from the truck to start fresh… didn’t work. Then tried the same thing with disconnecting the battery for 10 minutes still doesn’t work. Guess I’m stuck using Bluetooth for audio and that’s it.
Hello, Mike. Are you still experiencing this concern with CarPlay? If so, I would like to look into it on my end. Please send over a private message with your VIN and the name/location of your local Ford dealer.

I'm convinced that Ford absolutely HATES CarPlay. I have had issues with wired/wireless CarPlay working correctly going all the way back to Sync 3....

Carplay has worked flawlessly in my wife's 24 Kia, the 16 Hyundai, 22 Toyota Rav4, 23 Highlander, and several rental cars over the past several years from Jeeps, Mazda's, Dodges, to Nissans... But connect it to Ford's Sync and it may work, or it may not.

About once a month or two I have to remove my iPhone form Sync and reestablish the connection because it will take FOREVER or flat out refuse to connect. I have tried a multitude of different cables, even 4 different iPhones from the 12 to 15 and different iOS/carplay versions all with the same issues. The common denominator here is Ford's Sync system.

My wireless CarPlay stopped 2 days ago.

I removed and re-added the phone and I get "Wireless AppProjection Disabled" and it won't re-enable. And when you find that item in the settings menu, it can't be toggled on.

I have the same issue. It appears that it stopped working after an OTA update. I’m currently on 6.8. Did this happen to your truck after an update as well?

Yes, I had the OTA audio quality update, but I am not 100% sure it stopped then. I only really noticed it a day or two later, but I don't drive it every day.

Interesting, I wonder if I received the same update. Do you know how I can tell if I received the OTA audio quality update?

You can look on both FordPass app under updates and also on Sync under Updates.

My truck was updated 8/7 and I noticed the issue on 8/9. Not sure if I drove it between.
Might need to call the dealer.

My truck is a2023 Lariat with 502A pkg.

22 PB Here. Issues with CarPlay since day 1. I can get in and go with no issues, but roughly 10-15 minutes into my drive it will disconnect itself. 80% of the time it reconnects and there’s no issues for hours, but the other 20% of the time it’ll never reconnect automatically. I’d say it’s super frustrating, but I guess I’ve learned to live with it

Never had CarPlay problems since new ('23). But then, can't get TCU connectivity (long story not an issue for here). The point being, the truck is never connected to a mobile network.

Things to wonder about:
1. Is your SYNC on the latest version rev 1049?
2. Have you tried turning wi-fi hotspot off? There could be arguments between networks on truck and phone
3. Try unplugging the TCU behind the RHS rear seat, above the Jack. Turn truck off. On the bottom of the unit there's a little black connector push the middle tab in (you'll feel it spring in and out if you've got the right tab) and gently work the connector down and out. Turn the truck on and try CarPlay, first in accessory mode and then turn off, start truck and see.

Latest update.

Local dealer said "maybe use a USB cable instead?" Not going to them anytime soon.

Call Ford Sync support rather than do a factory reset. She said "your truck should have received an update that should have fixed this issue but it clearly isn't working, so take it to a dealer and maybe they can force the update again. DO NOT do a factory reset of Sync"

Issue finally resolved after 2 dealer visits.

They just updated the truck software, they said 12 modules needed updating. (it had never been to a dealer before)

This resolved the issue but in the process Sync was factory reset, which also kicked me out of FordPass remote access. It was easy to get connected and get going again.

Sounds like the OTA update on August 8 caused the issue or at least getting hooked up and updated at the dealer was able to resolve it.

CarPlay issues. I have my 22' powerboost for almost two years. Wireless CarPlay worked flawlessly until two months ago. My truck had an update the same night as my iPhone 15. Since then wireless CarPlay show normal, but only the phone-calls come in with it. It kills the internet on the phone so maps, no pandora or Spotify. Dealer replaced some module, but still have the same issue. Re-paired my phone "use USB only". Now it sort of works. I still have to pause WiFi on the phone for it to work. The dealer was able to pair an older iPhone with it flawlessly so I thought it is the iPhone 15 problem. The thing is my phone works without any problem with my other car (not ford) wirelessly. My wife also has an iPhone 15 and her phone act the same way as mine. Works fine with the other car, but won't work wirelessly with my ford. As soon as I plug in my phone the internet is dead unless I turn off WiFi on the phone. Is there anyone out there that has the same problem?
It’s the iPhone 18 update that doesn’t work with the current Apple CarPlay. Took me a few months to figure it out cause I am in the beta apple testing like a lot are and that’s the issue it’s not actually the vehicle Jfyi. Until Apple issues a fix nothing you can do.

FYI my phone is a 2022 iPhone SE (3rd gen).
It is on iOS 17.6.1 and working fine now. It only stopped working after the Aug 8 audio quality OTA update.
