CarPlay issues. I have my 22' powerboost for almost two years. Wireless CarPlay worked flawlessly until two months ago. My truck had an update the same night as my iPhone 15. Since then wireless CarPlay show normal, but only the phone-calls come in with it. It kills the internet on the phone so maps, no pandora or Spotify. Dealer replaced some module, but still have the same issue. Re-paired my phone "use USB only". Now it sort of works. I still have to pause WiFi on the phone for it to work. The dealer was able to pair an older iPhone with it flawlessly so I thought it is the iPhone 15 problem. The thing is my phone works without any problem with my other car (not ford) wirelessly. My wife also has an iPhone 15 and her phone act the same way as mine. Works fine with the other car, but won't work wirelessly with my ford. As soon as I plug in my phone the internet is dead unless I turn off WiFi on the phone. Is there anyone out there that has the same problem?

My Car play is so intermittent it’s crazy. It might connect and be fine , it might look like it’s connected but only play through my phone, look like it’s connected and play nothing … and don’t ever leave your truck running and let your phone get of range. Always have to shut the truck off , open the door and start over again . I’ve done it at stoplights and signs. It’s just one of many frustrating issues with this truck.

Yeah it seems to have a mind of its own in whether it connects or not. I have a iPhone 13, but I have seen the WiFi issue on my phone before. Message on phone comes up asks me if I want to turn off WiFi to connect with CarPlay.

Even connecting w wire isn’t perfect because if the wire jiggles it disconnects and then takes minutes to reconnect.

Dealers have no clue about this stuff. Almost better to go into some Apple forums and see what they say. It’s a software issue not an alternator that needs an RnR.

best of luck

Hi there! Would you send us a private message with your VIN and dealership name and location? I’d like to look into this concern on my end.

My 21 XL has never worked correctly using bluetooth/wireless carplay. It locks up after about 15 minutes of use. Of course, I have no fancy electronics so I use my phone for navigation. After about 6 months, I changed the settings to wired connection instead of wireless and haven't had issues since. Also, I've only ever been updated by the system twice. Not sure if that's because it's an XL or if the truck just won't communicate with Ford.

The truck loses connection with my iPhone because I've left it running while getting out with the phone still in my pocket. Upon returning, I have to select my phone again on the 12" screen and re-launch CarPlay. If I remember in time I will lay it on the seat or in the cubby as I'm getting out. I don't need to turn the truck off etc.

Are you still in the driveway or parking lot at Starbucks? What WiFi are you still connected too? The AT&T on-board WiFi perhaps? I have the AT&T on-board and use my iPhone and T-Mobile for CarPlay navigation apps and we use the on-board WiFi for internet access via tablet. Unfortunately, I can't do both with one device. If we hit a dead spot for my T-Mobile coverage I will have to use a map app on the tablet unless the AT&T signal is also unavailable. Option 3 is to utilize the GPS receivers on my Apple Watch Ultra and the maps I committed to memory before we left. Option 4 is just to keep driving until the signal comes back and then celebrate how we nearly had to rough it there for a moment! Whew ;)

The phone is not connected to any WiFi network. It is very strange. With wired connection I still have to swipe down on the phone and pause WiFi. With wireless CarPlay the phone acts like it is in airplane mode. It shows 5G and all the bars, but no internet at all. If I walk away from the truck it comes back as soon as I am out of the truck's WiFi range.

I've had the same issues with carplay, I eventually turned the wireless function off and just use Bluetooth for connection. It's so frustrating and annoying when carplay doesn't connect. Sometimes restarting the in-truck screen system works and other times I have to restart my phone.

I'm glad I have Android.
I have an S10 that's flawless, the S21 in the F150 is always wired and behaves. In the mach-e the S10 was flawless wired/wireless, the s21 wireless in the MME is dropping every few minutes. I suspect a process is sleeping or resetting incorrectly. The MME has PAAK and is another BT device that the phone remains connected to regardless of fordpass app. The MME is my errand runner with shorter drives so I don't really connect via wired for data (hotspot in vehicle must be wired in to be utilized via wifi).

Lately when Carplay acts up in my truck, toggling Carplay off/on in my phone settings usually fixes things. It works better than restarting the infotainment system for me. Sometimes it's just an app too. Spotify in particularly needs to be closed on the phone sometimes to get it working again.

I’ve had constant CarPlay issues since the day I bought the truck. Using apple, Waze, or goggle maps it always shows the map inverted and displays all of the roads behind me when using wireless CarPlay. Wired normally fixed the issue. Upon start up the right side of the screen would just be black where I normally have the audio currently playing. Id have to click full screen then minimize again to get it back. Been to the dealer 3 times and they said there’s nothing they can do.

Now as of a week ago CarPlay doesn’t work at all wireless or wired. Tried forgetting device from my phone and deleting phone from the truck to start fresh… didn’t work. Then tried the same thing with disconnecting the battery for 10 minutes still doesn’t work. Guess I’m stuck using Bluetooth for audio and that’s it.

Yesterday as soon as got into my truck it started wireless CarPlay. I know it wasn't an Apple update since those I have set to manual. Everything is back to normal.
